Hi and thanks for this forum!
I have volunteered in the adoption field for 11 plus years, facilitating adoption triad supports groups in Illinois for 8 years ( Adoptees, Birth Parents and Adoptive Parents Together -Wheaton IL.) and in Indiana for 3 years.(Full Circle Adoption Support Group) I have lead online groups in adoption online for many years and currently have a Yahoo Club ( Adoptees Christian Fellowship) that has over 200 members. I also host a newly ressurected forum on adoption.com, Christian Adoptee Fellowship- link in my signature.
I am the founder and editor of Adoption Blessings Journal ( a 20 page free outreach publication sent by US mail) and was cofounder, associate editor for Jewel Among Jewels Adoption News with Sherrie Eldridge, adoption author/speaker, when I lived in Indiana. I have a BA in Psychology and a Human Services Certificate where I did an emphasis on Adoption/Crisis Pregnancy in 1997, doing a 180 hour internship in adoption with Bethany Christian Services in Indianapolis and some adoption job shadows in adoption also for Human Services certificate.
More of my adoption work and education are found on my website listed below. I would love to be employed by a local adoption agency in the western suburbs of Chicagoland or hired as a blogger writing on adoption. I am an avid reader on adoption and collected over 350 books on the topic and donated them to a local adoption agency- Evangelical Child and Family Agency in Wheaton, IL.
My volunteer work in adoption for nearly 12 years has been wonderful and so educational. Investing my time and efforts with persons from all sides of adoption has done what no text book could do! Adoption is my passion and on my daily agenda as I minister to persons touched by it locally and on line.

Jody,
Wow. I must say that you have an impressive track record. I was hoping that I could get some advice from you. I am currently a senior Spanish Major at Dickinson College in Pa. I am hoping to work with children. I would like to work in the adoption field and would love some experience (a job or internship will do). I was wondering how I can kind of "break on to the scene"? How should I go about contacting people? Who should I contact? I will be looking for a position in NJ so I don't know how much you would be able to help me, but I figure that you know a lot and it was worth asking you. Thanks a lot! Have a good day!
