Hi. I am a foster parent from Indiana. My husband and I are flying to Orlando March 16th thru the 25th. We are VERY tight on money right now due to the legal battle for "our" son. Our "son" Gregory leaves us on March 27th - so this vacation is VERY important to us. We are having a hard time finding an inexpensive car rental. Any suggestions? Also, because we need two car seats - we are thinking about taking ours - because to go thru a car rental place is $6 to $8 a day per car seat. What are the laws regarding car seats in Florida? We know that we need a car seat for our eight-month old but - we don't know if we need a booster seat or a regular car seat for our three-year old. We will be in the Orlando area from the 18th to the 25th (we will be in Lake Placid from the 16th - 18th). What can we do besides Sea World and Disney? Thanks in advance for all of your help and suggestions!! Christina

Christina,
Have you tried Hertz?
I like them for a couple of reasons:
1) AAA Discount - its not much, but its something!
2) Unlimited Milage - they don't count miles - drive as little or as much as you want!
If you're staying at a hotel close to Disney, you may be able to get by not getting a car at all - you can take the shuttles...

If you check travelocity.com, you can find all of the car rental agencies at once-its a lot quicker and easier than going to each rental website separately! I just came back from Orlando and found a mini van rental through Alamo at a cheaper price than other agency's economy size cars! I always take my own car seats- just check them through with the baggage. As for suggestions, how about a day at the beach- Daytona Beach is only about 70 miles from Orlando, Tampa/St. Pete is even closer. You might want to take a trip to see the manatees- this is a good time for their viewing- either Crystal River or Blue Spring State Park, if you don't mind the drive. Have fun on your trip!
(Although we live in PA, we've taken our foster sons to Florida three times in the past 10 months!)
My dh always rents from places that use different variantions of Cheap for their name: ie Thrifty, Budget, Dollar
Things to do:
Have you looked into Islands of Adventure? A lot of fun!! They have great adult rides and a very cool Dr. Seuss land for kids.
I have had just as much fun going to a character breakfast at Disney and then going shopping at Downtown Disney for a day- much cheaper than going to the parks.
Maybe look into one of the water parks?
I hope you guys have a great time!

I would recommend the Character breakfast at the Contemporary Hotel located just outside Magic Kingdom. We also live in Florida and frequent Disney. This is our favorite character meal. Also, Rainforest Cafe is fun. There is one at Animal Kingdom and one in Downtown Disney. I would second the trip to Daytona Beach.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Enjoy your vacation and hanging out at the pool will probably end up being one of the highlights of your trip. :flower:
