Apparently, it does work. I am a reunited adoptee and just recently received my original birth certificate, so I also know my birth name. I went thru the process and was able to "find" myself.
Are there books for years after 1976?

I am adopted (Houston TX 1960) I discovered my amended birth cert number MATCHES as does my dob for Deborah Lyn Gilpin..Is there birth parent info buried in the registry somewhere. Realizing I had a birth name-with the stories I was told as a child and adult by a/mother--I need to find the truth. Catholic CHarites has not responded. I have registered with TX registry--and TX CARE also. Do you know of another way???
Yes, if you contact Depelchin in Houston. They have your records if you were adopted through Catholic Charities. They also have a support group once a month. Ask for Zena.
