I can give you the info I have. I am no expert on this. but have read a bit. From what I understand there is only one United States agency that has been liscenced by the Central Adoption Authority (CAA) to complete adoptions of Marshallese children. This was as of March 1, 2004. (NOT sure if they're are more agencies now or not. I looked into this probably 6 months ago)
ages- 4 months, toddlers, and Older
parents -25-50 for infant, married (single on case by case basis)
I will pm you the name of the agency. This agency also does Samoa which you don't see a lot of agenies offering. They also do China, Ukraine, Guatemala, domestic, Haiti, India.
Fees;
application 250
ed video- 100
program fee- 5,000
in-country fees-10,000
child's US immigrant visa- 389
child's medical - 50
international travel- 1,000-2,000 per adult
plus 90-125 per day
approx 23,000 without homestudy
approx time child comes home after dossier in country-3-6 months
Marshall Island adoptions can be like our domestic adoptions whereas a relationship with the birth mother is made and maintained.
With this new process the birth mother approaches the CAA and after several interviews and looking into domestic adoption first, than international adoption is considered. Referral info given, birth mom signs consents and a 30 day wait begins. After 30 days if ** doesn's change her mind the family arrives in Majuro.
Adoptions occur from the islands because of poverty, high birth rate,and small land mass.
If married both must travel, but then at least one parent must stay for about three weeks.
