My friend gave birth to a daughter like a few days ago. Her first child. Guess what she named her kid? She named her daughter Tinkerbell or well she named her Tinkerbella cause she added the "a" on the end. She was going to give her a normal name like Lisa or Sarah, but just out of nowhere she named her kid Tinkerbella. Its on the birth certificate. Then she said "When I have a son I will name is Peter Pan" God I hope she is joking. I mean I would never name my kids like that, but I still think its odd. Even considering I have a tinkerbell tattoo on my back lol. What do you guys think?
My sister named her son Boaz, as in from the Bible. It's grown on us, but if her second child was a boy (it turned out to be a girl) then she was going to name him Ezra. Also, from the Bible. As it is, she's named her daugher Evelyn, so that's much better. I can understand her religious views being very important to her, but as I mentioned when she was pregnant, David and Joshua are also Bible names, and they won't get her kid beat up on the playground.

a lady i worked with (who was a crack addict) named her daughter blaze...i know a lady (30ish) named sunshine. i have heard names like precious, stormy(i like) ummmm...can't think of many now...my family all have unicex names me...jamie...hubby lenzie...son stacey (after his dad) and daughter erin. i love em :-) different names are cool, just remember kids tease about everything and some names just don't look right on older people. tinkerbella...please????
I saw this thread and had to chime in. Back home (in Mew Mexico) one of my neighbors had named her son Ransom!
I know someone named Lasagna. And I heard of someone where we used to live named their son Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars had just come out...isn't that Darth Vader's real name?).
Here in the South Ransom is a fairly common name...most everyone knows at least one Ransom...not my favorite...lol but can see how it would be odd in NM lol

Did your friend still have pain medication on board when she named her?? She is going to need a nickname that will hopefully be more down to earth. I knew a girl that named her little guy Oz but I think Tinkerbella might beat that name;)
I'm a payroll administrator. You cannot beleive some of the names that come across my desk.
I've had Veverly, Krackhor, Karidah, Miracle, Precious, Sincere, Nekema, ShaVaughn, Keyosea, Liberty, some that I swear people made up by randomly picking letters from the alphabet. In fact one of the girls in my office made up her daughter's name using the letters from her name. I don't even remember her name.
I have no issue with ShaVaugn...IF it's spelled the CORRECT way which is "Siobhan"....which is my middle name...It's Irish :D lol I'm not one for alternitive spellings LOL

Yes - as in Crack whore!
And it wasn't Siobann - I do like the Irish name - this was Sha - from Shannon and Vaughn - from Vaughn.
People are crazy.
I had someone named Tee. That was her legal name - it's whats on her Passport.
I'm a huge fan of 'unique' names but even I would have to draw the line somewhere!
'Apple' and 'Coco' were bad enough, but OMG puhleez - Tinkerbella ???
When I chose dd's unique name, I made sure it would suit her if she became a lawyer, just as a test of the name's ability of grow with her.
Would anyone trust a lawyer named 'Felony'?
Would anyone respect a teacher named 'Tinkerbella'?
I wouldn't choose most of these names even for a nickname, or a pet's name, but definitely not something I'd ever put on a birth certificate.
I wonder how many of these children will change their name legally upon reaching adulthood? Or is there any chance they could do so sooner? (Maybe not, if they must plead their case before the judge named Fifi-Trixibelle)
Babs
I dont' think ShaVaughn is that bad... My son's name is Vaughn. He is named after the famous blues musician Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Vaughn is not a bad name. In fact, it's a nice name. But adding Sha, really changes it.
Today, my new employee was Akm.
And what is with adding a D' to a nice boys name? I know a D'Michael, a D'Mario, D'Angelo and D'Shawn.

Krackhor??? Oh my. And my hubby thinks my name choices are bad. My names might not be so bad.
