Hi there,
Is anyone else adopting from Portland, Oregon? We are currently waiting to receive the infamous 171-H approval letter from USCIS. Our filing date was 4/21 and we were fingerprinted on 5/9/06.
Does anyone else find themselves in the same boat? Please share your good news...tell me I won't be waiting forever!
portland is currently processing I-600's with 4/10/06 dates, so you have a little bit to go if yours was done 4/21/06. Not bad though!

Lori,
Thanks so much for your reply! You've certainly made my day! Where did you come across this information? Wait, maybe you shouldn't tell me...I am already obsessing over our mail (the mailman probably thinks I like him or something!).
Okay, I can handle it...tell me. :)
There's a website...

Just put in Portland, OR and the current dates will pop up. Addicting though!!
Lori
Thanks Lori,
I checked it out and the website has a date of 4/10/05. Let's just hope it's just a typographical error.
There is one thing that I found out in the process of obsessing over the I-600A process that I'd like to share...you can actually contact the FBI (they were actually very nice about it) to check on the date your fingerprints cleared. I called them today and they were able to confirm that my prints cleared on the same day I took them -- 5/9/06. Hopefully, I will have my hands on that letter next week!
Ruth
:)
If you had a letter next week that would be amazing! We're in MI and they are only processing I-600A's from January last time I checked.
Good luck in the process!

Lori,
Thanks so much! I will continue to take everything in strides. If there is anything adopting internationally teaches you is patience and a sense of humor! :)
I found that the best thing to do while you wait is to surround yourself with friends who are also in the same boat.
I will definitely let you know when I receive the letter. In the meantime, here's something I hope will make you smile!
Ruth
Honey, sit down. I have some news for you.
What is it?
Well, I don't know how to say this, so I'll just come out with it. I went out to the mailbox today and ... well, we got an I-171H.
A what?!? An I-171H? As in, we're going to have a(nother) baby?!?
It looks that way.
But how? We've been so careful! I put away all the blank I-600A forms. Didn't you hide our homestudy update?
Of course I did. But don't forget, there was that one night...
What night? (pauses) Ohhh, that night. But it was only once. We were just messing around. I didn't print clearly. I didn't even use ink! (pauses again) But it was kind of fun.
(giggles)
It was, wasn't it? I'll never forget how cute you looked getting your fingerprints.
So now we've got our I-171H, eh? But that doesn't always mean you'll adopt, does it? I mean, shouldn't you see the agency or something, make sure everything's okay?
I already did.
And?
I'm five documents along!
Five documents! And they're all notarized, certified and authenticated okay?
Just great! There was one small scare when the agency couldn't see the Notary's middle initial, but it showed up just fine under the magnifying glass.
Thank God. And you honey? Are you feeling okay?
I'm feeling fine. As long as I know you're happy about this.
Happy? I'm thrilled! It's always a shock at first when something like this happens, but of course I'm happy.

Cute! Dallas is only on February first reciept dates. I keep hoping that they gave themselves extra time.
I know how you feel! I guess all we can't do is keep (breaking out into a song) hoping...and wishing...
I don't know the rest of the song but you'll know what I mean. :)
I have to share something with you all....You know how we have been talking about the 171-H letter? Well, this evening, before running our errands, I asked my hubby to check to the mail and much to our surprisewe saw an envelope from Immigration!

I held back the tears of joy and quickly ripped open the envelope and proceeded to read the letter. ItŒs not our 171-H approval but it looks like were getting closer and closer. They requested additional information which I will be hand delivering tomorrow but this must mean weҒre close!

How cool is that! Were so excited! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
