Does anyone know of a good doctor who does circs on toddlers. My boys will be coming home as toddlers and will need this done. live in the miami area. I would imagine that they would have to be put to sleep at this age? please pm me, thanks
I would assume that most obgyns can do them. Most do them after deliveries. I assume you have an ob, ask him/her :)

Unless you are doing this for religious reasons, or the boys already have a medical issue where the foreskin is causing a problem - no boy NEEDS this done. It is strictly aesthetic otherwise.
Please do lots and LOTS of research before deciding to put the boys through this.
Folks, this member wasn't asking for a debate on Circumcision this person asked a specific question about how to get a circumcision done in Miami. I assume if this person were looking for feedback on circumcision or others opinions of circumcision, she would have asked for that. We need to be respectful of other members postsօ
Having said that - You'll need to contact a pediatric urologist in your area and set that up. You also need to contact your insurance most/many insurance companies consider it a cosmetic procedure when its done later in life (not at birth) unless there is some sort of underlying medical issue in which the Dr. deems circumcision necessary.
I wasn't trying to debate. I really am sorry if it came out that way.
I did it in 1989 w/ my first DS, but not in 2005 w/ my 2nd DS. I didn't really know anything about it back then, like I do now.
Because of the way the US views it, lots of people don't realize it isn't necessary. Was just putting that out there.
Again, sorry.
I think ob/gyns only do newborn circs, I don't think you would want them to do one on a toddler. I would check out the website for Miami Children's Hospital and look for a pediatric urologist. A quick check showed about 8 docs listed.

We live in Orlando so that is a little far away so I cannot recommend ours. We went through Nemours Clinic so if you have one in your area you may want to check them out. Our insurance covered it and our son had it done at 16 months so yes they put him to sleep. PM me if you have any more questions.
call the childrens hospital referral line in your area. they can probably tell you, they probably will do concious sedation and just make him a little sleepy and then use some numbing cream.
