hi! dh wants to adopt my son from a previous relationship. we are in the process of saving money for an atty. my son is to start kindergarten next month. his birth cert has my maiden name as his last name. is there any way i can have him use my married name for school?

Hi, I had the same problem, I didn't change my daughters name I just filled out a form, stating I wanted her name to be Ashley with my husbands last name. There was no problem. We are now doing the adoption, but you will not have any problems with the school and names.

I was wondering if I am able to use my married name for dd when she starts middle school in Aug. The adoption preceedings wont be done by then but I was hoping to keep her name the same through out so the change will be subtle and nobody but school admin would know the adoption went through.
