The caretakers (infamiers) were very good to the children and truely cared for them. We saw this in the orphanages we visited in different areas. Were the children were not cared for well, usually was because there were too few staff. Not becasue they did not care. We heard stories of caretakers that took food off their own tables at home to feed the children in the orphanage when food was scarce - even on their own table at home. Some of the directors were years beyond what is done here in the US with the children. One had set up a family group with specific staff to care for the children. They basically lived in a family with 6 parents. The caretakers and directors are not always given the praise that they deserve. Most seem to be caring, devoted, loving people who want the best for the children. In the early 90's, one wanted to have all her chidlren adopted so that she could close her orphanage - putting herself out of a job. Some know how important family is and that the children have a much better change at life then if they stay at the orphanage.
Every think about writing and thanking them for the wonderful care your child received? I am sure they would be thrilled to hear about him and a litle praise can go along way.
