My boys are both on the same schedule...thank goodness!! They are 17 and 19 months old. They got to bed at 9pm, wake at 8am, and nap usually from noon to 2:30. My s-daughters are 9 and 11...at OUR house they must be out of bed by 10am and are in bed by 11pm...since it is summer. At 11am the TV goes off and they have to find "something that is NOT sitting in fron of a TV" until 5pm. That is all they do at their mother's house. They also are allowed to stay up as late as they want and once we called over there at 12:30pm and the 11 yr old was just getting out of bed. I just don't agree with that.

Our son was 3 in June. He is in bed at 8pm and usually up btwn 7:30 and 8:00. The naps stopped when he was 2 1/2 (thought I would never survive!!) But I do have a routine of rest time around 3:00 every afternoon. Depending on how busy our day was, he will sometimes fall asleep for an hour or so. I'll take what I can get!!
My kids are 13,11,9,5 they all go to bed at 8pm during the school months. The 13&11 yr olds get up at 6 am for school and my 9 yr old gets up at 7:30 to go to school and my 5 yr old is usually up shortly there after. My 5 yr doesnt take naps but on occasion will lay down and watch cartoons in the afternoon and fall asleep for about an hour. During the off school months I allow them "free"time, they can stay up as late as they wish ( usually cant make it past 11 or 12 LOL) and they may sleep in, again I think the lastest any of them have slept is 10:30...I am ok with it as I am a SAHM and personally I love to sleep;)
My son (27 months old) goes to bed by 8:15 most nights and gets up by 7:30 til 8 am. He naps from 2-4:30 then wants to "read" books in his crib for another 30-45 minutes. My daughter (1 year old) goes to bed around the same time as big brother and wakes between 7 and 8 am. She will either take an early nap between 11 and 1 or a late nap of 1:30-4. Jen

We've always been real good about putting the kids to bed around 7-8 each night and they would wake up between 7-8 as well as take a nap between 12:00 and 2:00.
This summer our schedule has been way off. Staying up way late like about 10-10:30 then waking up anywhere between 8-10 just depending on the day and whenever I'd put them down for a nap they'd play for like the 30-60 minutes then finally fall asleep for a few hours and not wan't to wake up...wake up kinda tired instead of spunky and ready to go. The older two sometimes wouldn't even take a nap at all.
Well, now that school is here were back to our school schedule except it's changed a bit with my daughter going to pre-school and having to get up earlier so we can get everyone ready and drive to both schools.
So now our schedule is about 7-7:30 bedtime and wake up at 6:20...then at school my 2nd grader doesn't take naps and my pre-schooler will lay down but not sleep (then again it's only like the 3rd day of school adn the whole waking up early thing). But my babies will sleep for about an hour or two between 12:00-2:00 (again playing for about the first hour).
I've read that a child 2-5 should get between 12-15 hours of sleep a day for them to really grow and be alert and stuff.
I'm just wondering if maybe we need to push for an earlier bedtime....since the 4 1/2year old can be moody in the morning (was today) and if she's not sleeeping at school then she's really not even getting 12 hours. I know every kid is different. I'm just wondering if it would be cruel to push for a 6:30 bedtime...since we wake up at 6:20 or if she will eventually take her nap at school once she gets settled in and if she really needs it (she's the one that usually takes the LONGEST to fall asleep but once she is asleep she wants to sleep for hours and if she doesn't get it WILL get grumpy.
Any advice?
My son is 7 1/2 years old. He usually goes to bed around 9:30pm and gets up at 7am. He doesn't take any naps at all, unless he is deathly ill. My 20 month old daughter typically goes to sleep around 8:30pm. She usually wakes up at 6 or 7 am. She usually naps in the morning from 10-11, and again at 3 or 4pm.
