Hi all! I'm just getting to know people here. How about an old fashioned roll call?
So, if you don't mind, post a little about yourself. What branch are you affiliated with? Are you or your spouse the military member? Are you adopting domestically or internationally? Are you fostering? Is your adoption complete or are you in process? If complete, tell us about how your child(ren) are doing? If still in process, where are you in the process? How are the other little ones doing (if you already have children - or pets for that matter)?
See, I'm just full of questions.:p
Well, let's see. My DH is active duty Marine Corps and we're stationed at MCAS Miramar in San Diego. He is currently deployed and we will be adopting from Vietnam as soon as he returns. We're hoping for a baby boy. Right now, I am working on getting things done for our homestudy. We plan on working with ATWA for our homestudy and VORF for placement.
b&k898-What about you? :)

My hubby is Army, stationed at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA. He is also deployed right now. We have submitted all of our paperwork to China right now to adopt. We are open to either gender and said we would accept twins, if available. We probably have a year or so to wait, so we expect that he will be back before we have to travel.
We have one furbaby - a 13 year old dog, Lady Byng (bonus points to anyone who can guess the origin of that name). We are excited to begin our family.
My husband is AD Air Force. We adopted a son from Japan while we were stationed there.(We just PCSed from there) He will be 2 in December. We also have a 5-year-old (bio) And adopted a "furbaby" about 3 months ago. We know 2 families who are in Japan (Air Force) who are adopting from China. They started the process soon after we brought our son home (he was 5 days when we got him) One is about to get their baby girl and the other was still waiting for a referal when we left in mid-July. Plan on China being 18-24 months before you actually get home with your little one. Good luck. I hope it all goes smooth for you.
Hi,
hubby is active duty Air Force....I was also active duty for 9 years but, now out :)
were currently stationed in Germany and will pcs next year.
we have a 4 1/2 yr old little girl adopted from CA social services (fost/adopt) but, we were there for her birth (rare situation).
we also have a little boy 22mos and he was adopted last year from Guatemala :) my daughter and I actually went to Guate and fostered until it was time to come home.
we were also foster parents while stationed in CA and fostered a baby boy and a little girl (not at the same times) :) these cases did not lead to fost/adopt but, it was a great experience.
good luck on your adoption journey!!!
Chris
Chirs, we've talked about putting in for Germany for our next tour. Has it been a good experience for you?

mccool98-DH and I are adoptin from Vietnam. DH is junior enlisted (not for much longer though!) and we should be able to pay for our whole adoption without any loans or credit cards. Our first year of marriage, we worked at getting out of debt, we set up a budget and we stick to it. We don't indulge in very many "extras" and we live pretty inexpensively. DH is also currently deployed so we're able to save a lot while he is gone. We've saved about a third of our cost already, so I know it can be done. Good luck on your process. :)

We've also been trying to live below our means to save money for our adoption. DH is deployed too and I think I'll save a fortune on groceries alone - lol!
The costs of adopting from China are spread out over the process so we haven't had to come up with the whole thing at once. We've always had just enough when we've needed it.
I'm a DoDDS teacher in Germany at an Army Post. My husband and I just brought our three children (10, 4, 3) home from Poland last Saturday. Our entire adoption was completed while in Germany, so if anyone has questions about adopting while overseas, I'll let you know what I know.
My husband is active duty Marine Corps. Over 15 years now.
We are currently at Cherry Point, NC. May be PCSing next year, depending on if he gets selected for promotion. Won't know til the middle of December when the board lets out.
We adopted out of CA last year. Our daughter is 14 months old going on 2 years. She is so independent already!! We love every minute of it.
When we were stationed in Okinawa a few years ago. We had some Air Force friends who adopted a newborn baby boy out of Cambodia. We also have some friends out of the Marine Corps now, who are in the process of adopting from China.
Glad to meet you all!!
