Ok, I'm just curious. For those of you have had to travel to another state to adopt, how long did you have to stay there once you had the child, and what kind of accomodations did you have while you were there? If you had other children at the time, did you take them with you?
Went to Az, was gonna need to be there by myself for 2 weeks or so...started getting panic attacks, backed off and went home without TPR from bmom, got it together after a week or so, and bmom agreed to TPR then "babysit" dd for us until ICPC....appx 2 weeks. We had no other children.
That act of babysitting dd AFTER she signed TPR, means more to me than ANYTHING...It allowed me a slight grip on my emotions that I desperately needed....an ADD first time mom has NO business in a tiny town, in a hotel with a behaviorally challanged older child, alone for 2 weeks!!!!
My attny thought we were nuts, but bmom got to have her for Thksgiving, and we got some extra alone adjustment time. It means as much to me as the act of placing her with us.

we were actually on vacation when our bmom went onto labor prematurely. so we turned our motorhome a different direction and headed to her town. our 4 kids stayed in the motorhome in the hospital parking lot with a babysitter the day bmom was in labor. they played games and watched movies. later we found a motel for them so they could swim and sleep the night. it all worked out, but this time we are traveling and not bringing our children. it was too hectic last time. i want to have some time just with the baby before introducing him/her to our crowd of kids. we will stay in a hotel.
forgot....... because baby was born during a holiday week things took longer we stayed about 2 weeks waiting for tpr, icpc. this time it is supposed to be faster, but we'll see.
