Hello, my husband and I are new to Brazil adoption. We have adopted from Guatemala twice. We have been very please with the Brazil process so far and have found it to be very stress free compared to Guatemala. We had our home study updated first of November and we just recieved pictures of a beautiful little girl that we have decided to adopt. She turns three years old in March and has mild FAS. We are in the process of getting our dossier together now and waiting on our I-171. I just wanted to share our good news and hope that everyone else's process is going as smooth. However, I am afriad that something will go wrong b/c this are just too perfect right now. Any feedback would help.

Congratulations on your referral! You must be so excited. I don't know anything about Brazil adoption, but hope it continues to go very smoothly for you and you have her home soon! :cheer:

Did you go through an agency or did you do it yourself? Can you give me any information on this CEJA organization and how they operate or how to start an adoption with them? thanks, LIZ
We are using One World Adoptions that works with LIMIAR. Terri at One World has been wonderful and very helpful. I do not have info on adopting by yourself through the CEJA, b/c we choose to use LIMIAR. I heard that going by yourself can take a long time b/c you are waiting on the government. We accepted our referral of our little girl first of Dec. and we expect to travel in April, so our process has been very fast. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me at mhglas@insightbb.com. I hope this helped some and good luck with what ever you decide to do.

My kids and I have been home for 2 weeks. I adopted through an agency in the U.S. You can adopt from Brazil without an agency but you have to know a good lawyer in Brazil to assist you. Brazil requires you to have a lawyer to have your dossier presented to CEJA. CEJA is the Brazilian court that approves your dossier. The process seemed pretty straight forward. It was 5 months from the time my dossier was presented to CEJA to my returning home with my kids. There are additional steps that your process has to go through after you get your referral and you are required to stay in Brazil for a 31 day bonding period. You can PM me if you have any additional questions. I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot about the process while staying in Brazil.
