I was wondering if anyone who's with an FFA HAS SUCCESSFULLY adopted through Orange County? What was your wait like? Was Orange County easy to deal with? What was your overall experience like? Give me the good bad and ugly.

Hi rm41more. Im in LA county and with a FFA no luck and on our second child. judges, and all workers- county and FFA are all about reunification. In both our cases there was no way on hell that the children should have been reunified but that what ended up happening. it sucks. poor kiddos

I hear ya. Were with an FFA as well and just haven't been successful adopting. We've matched twice through La County but the kids weren't a good fit(and we matched as a result from adoption festivals). Our first placement which went to adoption fell through after 11.5 months and went home to the family that had the sib...(which they originally turned him down at birth).
Although were in Orange County we've had minimal experience with them. We did submit our homestudy last year on one child but we were not chosen. OC DCFS responded very quickly and was very thorough with the information they provided.
I hope there's someone else out there that an shed more light on OC DCFS.
Orange County and California Kids Connection were both difficult to work with.
As well as Orange County also split our Sibling Group of 3 girls and a boy into 3 different Adoption Components, Fragments, and Sections??
I don't really think this is Child Advocacy??
Who has time to manage 3 different Visitation Schedules??
Kidz are you directly with Orange County or an agency? Were you matched or did you submit your homestudy on particular kids?

We are with a San Diego Agency.
We were Matched with 3 out of 4 Siblings.
The boy was placed before our inquiry.
Orange County also Originally Advocated that the 2 Older Girls to be placed together, and the youngest Special Needs Sister to be placed separately!!
We think the total Advocacy, for the entire State of California of under 8 years old is Family Reunification!!
Can you elaborate on that Marshall? I am very curious about what that might mean or what you are referring to. Maybe I am naive, and I am new to this (we've been fostering just under a year) so I don't understand what you are saying. How might a worker get you kids? I thought there were specific processes and protocols which are followed. I have heard of some sort of waiting list for preadoptive placements. Isn't this how it works?

I believe Marshall had a bad experience with OC DCFS hence the derogatory comment. Are you directly with the County or an FFA?

direct, no FFA
If you don't mind me asking what has been your experience working directly with Oc Dcfs? Have you stayed full with lots of placements? Are you foster only or fost to adopt?
