Brandy, I live 5 miles out of Azle just off of 730 South, That would have mades us neighbors. Why'd you have to move? Coincidently- I grew up in Bryan, got pregnant visiting the hometown. You weren't born yet or we could have been neighbors there also. My daughter was born in and placed through Volunteers Of America Home in Fort Worth. It is some kind of alcholic rehab. facility now or was about 10 years ago when I drove by for some reason.
My daughter is 36 years old. In June it will be 3 years since I was first contacted by my daughter. We met that August. Contact has been very limited since and that has been a struggle for me.
I have been married for 21years to my second husband and have a soon to be 33 year old son from my first marriage, a 27 year old step-daughter that I am very close to and a step-son that we haven't seen for about 4 years.

i gave birth to a beautiful girl in june 1985.. i have been searching for many years. I hope one day she will search for me. (if she hasn't started already) i had 2 attorneys involved one from louisiana & texas.. the attorney from texas passed away & i contacted the office where he worked and asked them to see if there were any files or information they could offer. the para-legal took my name & number & info & said she would call me back. that was last week. i keep positive thoughts. chat room & discussion rooms are the only things that keep me hoping..
I am not far from any of you in Texas. Just about 90 miles south. The adoption was a private one in Houston in 1965. I have had contact with my daughter.
Still in Allen? I am in Plano...looking for other Birthmoms to talk! Also have found a group for birthmoms that is meeting. Would love to have others join us. Cathy

Uh Patty - sorry for the delay :p
I moved back home to open my business after college - did ok, but just got 'out of it' so I sold it (it's still there) and decided to do something else...
Then - met my husband online - we met in person almost 2 years later - got married 2 weeks later - and I sold my house and moved to North Carolina, where he was stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps.
We then moved to the Chicago area, after the military, and stayed there for 4 years.
After 4 years with the company that recruited him from the military, he was cut by a wave of layoffs, so we relocated to Sunny Phoenix for my job - which is where we are now (and have been for almost 2 years).
So thats me.
I get back and visit from time to time - but haven't in years...I should tho.
I live near Parker and Custer. The group I found is a new one that started last week called Tapestry. It's meeting at Irving Bible Church. Here's the website. IBC :: Birth Parent Support and Resources. They have much adoption support for all the members of the triad. The first meeting was just 6 of us Birthmoms and the 2 facilitators...it was just us sharing our stories. Not religious or Bible study...
I am new to this blogging thing so am not sure of the rules. Can I give you my phone number or direct email so we can talk?
I was born in Dallas, lived everwhere from Richardson to Allen to Duncanville, but basically grew up in Plano :). I now reside in Garland, but that's only a hop skip and a jump away! I would love to get involved in a bmom group, maybe we could carpool, InBlind and Momokat? Would be nice to be able to have some me time!!!!

Good to hear back from you both...Katlyn and InBlindFaith
If you wanted to attend on March 4th, we could meet at the McDonalds at George Bush and Coit about 6PM. Irving is really not that far up the tollway.
If you are interested, let me know. Can I put in my phone number on this site? Cathy
Hi! I just wanted to let you all know about the Tapestry Birthmother Support Group, in case you are interested. We meet the first Tuesday of each month, from 7 to 8:30p.m., at Irving Bible Church. The group is not offered as therapy, but rather as a place for understanding, support, and healing for any woman who has placed a child for adoption. The group is open to every birthmother, regardless of when she placed her child or what level of contact she has with her child. If you are interested let me know and I can give you more details!

Momokat
You can use the PM function (Private Message) to pass on the phone number. Click on their username and you will get a drop down box with Private Message on it. Click this and it will open in a PM format.
Phone numbers can be used for scamming so it's not recommended.
Cheers
katlyn
