Hello! It's so nice to hear from you guys. We have kiddos ages dd 14, dd 13, ds 11, ds 7 and dd 4yr. We also have 3 bio kids, ds 25, ds 24 and dd 22yr. We are hoping to adopt another sibling group of at least 4. We went through DHS for homestudy for the first ones and we used Families Are Special in North Little Rock to do our update which is being paid for by Adopt America. Can't hardly wait to get our homestudy back so I can start sending it out. I know where Conway is and have been there many times. Also just moved back to Arkansas from Hollis, Oklahoma in September. Don't think I know where Greenway is tho. Hope we can continue this and add some more people.

Hi,
We live right below Pine Bluff. We have been married for 8 years and have 5 children between the two of us. (3 boys 22, 20, and 15 and 2 girls 19 and 16) We have just recently been licensed and have two boys ages 6 mos. and 8 years and are expecting a G 15 next week.
I hope more people respond and we can get to know each other.
Not a lot of people understand what we do or why we do it. It's nice to be able to share.
Does anyone know how long it takes to update a homestudy? I sent in my background check info, finger prints, physicals, and other updated info a couple weeks ago.
It's nice to see someone here!
lotsalilfeet- you are definately brave for taking a 15yr.
I have one of my own and a 14yr dd.
arkansas parent-I htink it takes a month for all the checks to come back. We just did the same thing last week. Have you got a child in mind? We have a sib group we have been looking at for a while. There are 4 in the group and we already have 5 at home. Since Arkansas now has a new regulation, just found out about it a few days ago, we'll have to wait and see what our cw says about our house. The kids cw told me it depended on if our cw thinks we have enough room, then they might make an exception since they are sibs.
Really hoping the visit goes like we want.

What new regulation? Our worker said she knows of a girl that might be a good match for us (if she hasn't already been placed). We were wanting a biracial or AA girl age 0-7yrs but now we are thinking of getting a boy/girl sibling group, but we will have to build on a bedroom first.
Sometime last summer a new regulation came into effect that you can not have over 8 children in your home. Before, there was not any problem if you had the space for children. We inquired on a sib group in July and there were 4 of them. Then in August, 2 youngest were placed somewhere else. So when I checked back with their worker, we had moved to Perryville last of August and had to remodel our house before we could do anything else, they were together again. Apparently placement didn't work. We were thinking there were only 2 and we definately wanted them and now they are together again and I wouldn't split them up for anything.
So now, we are dealing with a new adoption worker who we don't really know and have only spoken to on phone.
Feeling anxious and excited at the same time.
Does anyone know the costs of a homestudy in Arkansas. Ours was done in Oklahoma before. So I have no idea. I know we can get a baby placed with private adoption and the courts will order the home study done at that time. Thats what they did with us before. But I kind of would like to have on in place prior this time.
My name is Sara, dh Chad, mom to 4 kiddos. One bio daughter 13, domestically adopted son(CA/India) 9, came home at 1 day old; son 5 S. Korea, came home at 7 months old; daughter 5 Thailand, came home at 4 years old.
I am the founder of Families R Forever Adoption Support Group. We get together 2x's a year. Spring and Fall. The events are held in McRae(Searcy), AR. Not far from Little Rock or Conway.
We would love to have any new families to join us. We will be getting to together on May 17, 2008. It will be a dinner to celebrate our families cultures. If any one is interested please feel free to contact me at mom12345soon@yahoo.com
Sincerely

Wynona,
When done our last adoption, we went through Intergity, Carol Jones. If you would like her information please contact me at mom12345soon@yahoo.com. We really liked her. She isn't connected with any adoption agency.
hi well leave in fayetteville arkansas we are waiting for are home study it is slow 1 tells us it been sent and 1 tells us it has not been sent what to do it seem like they they do not care every thing is in every bodies hands but are help
We lived in Fayetteville last year, from August o6 to August 07. Started calling DHS first of September and never could get the info packet sent. Even went to their office and worker was busy,so left our name, never got anything. Gave up and went to a private agency in North Little Rock in Nov. and was finished by May 1.
We are in the process of updating now with the private agency. Just keep after them and let them know you are serious about getting things done. Is this your first time to adopt? We have 5 adopted children, 4 of whom are an AA sibling group. We live in Perryville, close to Little Rock. Boy do I miss the scenery in Fayetteville. We loved it there, but had to move closer to my parents due to health reasons. Good luck and I hope things move quickly for you.
I started a new listserv for any of the triad involved in a Arkansas transracial adoption. Come join us! :cheer: We have so much to learn from each other.

Hi, my name is Karen from Northern AR. Married to DH for 20 years in Nov. Have 1 bio DS 17, and 1 bio DD 15. Now in process (paperwork) of adopting sib group through DHS. Has anyone had experience with adopting from another state? How much extra time did it take? How many visits did they require? Any other info would be helpful as well.
Thanks
