My dh and I currently have a placement from LA county that is concurrent. We would LOVE to adopt, and are keeping our fingers crossed. My question is this, i know we cant accept any pre adoptive placements until Squishy's case is settled, but can we still take foster only placements? We have two beds open, and know the need is great. It seems like such a shame that we wouldn't be able to help out any children for another year or so. Anyone know if we would have that option?
Yes, you can take in foster only placements. That's what our family will be doing early this summer as well.

We took a second foster placement. Our FS's goal at that point was concurrent - in fact, I think all LA county kids are technically concurrent, it is supposed to be written into the case plan. However, with her, we knew it was going to be temporary. She was pre-pre-adoptive if that's a thing. We just waited around for some court hearing and then she went to a fost-adopt home on "the list". She was only with us a few weeks. After that, we realized two infants was one too many and decided to hold off a bit until I could earn some more time off.
When we updated our availability, we got calls of every type. Even one for a 2-yo already TPR'd. We are getting ready to open our doors once again in a couple months.
We asked our adoptions worker thru Riverside county if we could foster children while we have squishy, who is concurrent and thru LA county. She said no, it's against their policy. While I understand, they want squishy to have time to adjust and fully bond, I'm still kind of sad. We worked so hard to get licensed, and it took SO long!! We finally have two open beds and we can't use them! I adore my squishy, and I'm praying we get the chance to adopt him, but I also want the chance to help other children. I guess I'm just going to have to be patient, wait it out, and enjoy this little guy:):)
