Thanks to the Texas birth book for 1973 I was able to track down a birth parent name. Unfortunately, the listing only has a last name and two initials. The file number matches the birth certificate number. Based on the court documents that I have that appear to confirm the last name, I assume this is the birth mother.
What can I do to narrow down the search from this point? I know her profession at the time of birth and her approximate birth year. I also have the reference number for the court order of adoption. The delivery was in Bexar County.
Any help would be appreciated.
The Marriage/divorce records for Texas are all online - Texas maintains them on their website - you have to download the file by year.
You can search by name and find her married name - then go from there.
There is also a paid service that has the Texas Drivers License online - if you're interested, please let me know I can PM you the site.
Good luck!

I found the marriage records and went through them, but I don't know if she was married. I checked for any I could find starting with 1973 and working back but none matched the initials I found.
Plus, there's always the issue of whether I'm looking in the right county.
I'd be interested in the DL search, but I don't know what I would be searching for. Is it current records, or the records for previous years?
Basically, all I know is that the birth mother was a 26-year-old teacher with two older children.
It's amazing how you can know so much and so little all at the same time.
I know I can always look back for the birth mother's birth records from 26 years earlier, but that assumes that she lived in the same county or even state as well.
