HI everyone! I am dropping by from the China adoption board. My husband and I are looking to possibly change from China to another International Country due to our dossier not making to China by the May 1st deadline before they change their regulations/restrictions. This is heartbreaking for us since we are near the end of our paperchase and have the home study completed. We were just in the process of sending in the I-600A when the agency wanted to send an eligibility check to the CCAA to see if we still qualify!!! Needless to say we are already so very emotionally invested in adoption from China that the money does not matter as much. Anyway, if we find out we do not qualify anymore after months of paper chasing does anyone know the restrictions for other countries as far as criminal history? My worries are 2 very stupid, embarassing mistakes I made in my 20's that resulted in a DWI back in 1996 and a "wrong place at the wrong time" that resulted in a deferred adjudification (Case dismissed but still shows up that I was arrested and fingerprinted). Needless to say I have lived with the shame for many years and now live the straight as an arrow lifestyle and fear these very very stuipd mistakes made in my youth will inhibit us from achieving our dread of adopting a child. If anyone has any advice please feel free to offer or PM me. Thanks again so much everyone!:thanks:
