Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if we can adopt from Haiti while living in Mexico? We are US citizens, with a US residency, but live in Mexico. Also, will the Hague Convention have any affect on Haiti adoptions? Thanks!!
My agency works with americans living outside the US trying to adopt. They work with Haiti. i am sure you can do this. I will PM you the info.

If a country has NOT ratified the Hague, the U.S. can continue adoptions as always, under the current law.
If a country HAS ratified the Hague, the U.S. can work with it, with both the U.S. and the foreign country following the rules set down by the Convention.
Guatemala is currently considered a "non-compliant Hague country", since it has ratified but never implemented a Hague-compliant system. As a result, U.S. citizens will NOT be able to adopt there once the U.S. ratifies, unless Guatemala either withdraws from the Convention or implements it.
