How long did it take for some of you to get your license once the application was submitted to the state? I've had mine at the state about a week....
I've noticed that another poster has had her application in for about three weeks. I thought it only took 2 or 3 weeks.
I know I know I am being impatient!

It took me exactly 2 weeks and 6 days..so almost 3 weeks, but I have heard people who get approved the next day or 6 days or a week. It depends on how many files they have to process....
The week mine got submitted one of the DCF workers had had a death in the family and it slowed things down...

We finished our MAPP classes on Valentines Day and finally received our license on June 15. It must depend on the agency that you are working with. We were working with UFF and they are terribly slow about everything!! Oh how I wish Florida would go back to DCF handling things. We have been licensed for almost 3 years now and have to have our re-license pkt in 5 months before our re-license date!!!
It took us about a week and 1/2 to be issued. Then it took 2 weeks to actually receive it in the mail. I know we called them and asked them to call us when it was approved so we knew before it came in the mail.
Does it go to Tallahassee or to the District DCF office?
Oh, and you guys have been great in letting people (me) know what to expect, how to make things happen. Thanks!
It goes to the District DCF office, or as they call it here, the Zone.
It took me what seemed like an eternity to get mine, it was 3 months after I finished taking the MAPP classes.

Just under three months for us! It was awful waiting but had it been sooner we wouldn't have the kids we have today that we love and are hoping to adopt.
We finished our classes Middle of December and then we had to finish one home study and then the person licensing us had to take all the paperwork that we did and type it into about 24 pages. That is what was sent off to get us licensed. They sent them by scanning them on a Thursday and they called me on friday and said that it had been approved. I could not believe by the first of January we were ready to take babies....I am not sure if this is the norm but for us it happened quickly. Good luck.
As of today I am officially a licensed foster parent for the State of FLorida. GULP...HURRAH:arrow:
Okay, here it how long it took for me. January MAPP classes. Worked on application and prepared house February - April. Dragged out some last details to April so that my license would come at the end of the school year. Agency submitted homestudy to state district office May 7th, license in effect May 31. So the "State Wait" for me was 25 days.
In Florida the state has to make a decision on your application within thirty days from the time it was submitted by the agency.
Now, I'm waiting on the call from central placement. Tomorrow is my last day of work for the summer so things are working out well so far. See you.
