Has anybody ever wanted to change the number of children you were applying for?
My husband and I did change the number from 1 to 2 we thought. It seemed like no big deal because we had not done our homestudy before we made the change.
But today I just got our I-171-H:banana: ..but it states we have approval for 1 child.
Of course I have a great contact at our local office that has been helping us online with questions and stuff...she is the one that confirmed the change for us. But of course she is out of the office for who knows how long:grr: .
If anyone has had any similar experience you can share that would be great.
Thanks,
I can think of three reasons for the approval for only one child:
1. You failed to submit a homestudy report approving you for two children.
2. Your income failed to meet the USCIS requirements for a family with two parents and two children --125% of poverty level income for a family of your anticipated size -- or your homestudy did not make a strong enough case for your financial capability to parent two children.
3. The USCIS read your application wrong. It happens.
Your best bet is to talk with your social worker and have him/her contact the USCIS to see if there was a reason or whether there was an oversight.

Sharon,
Thanks for you advice. I got in touch with my USCIS contact yesterday..and it appears it was a mistake on their part. So she is revising the form and sending it out today.
Thanks
