Hello! This is my first official post on this site. My husband and I are brand new to the adoption process. We have just turned in our application and will start our homestudy in June. We are a little nervous because we are not sure what to expect.
I was hoping that some of you could help. We are going through Catholic Social Services and will take an ENRICH test. The social worker just said it is to make sure that we are adopting for the right reasons and to ensure that our marriage is stable. I felt silly to ask, but is there somethings we should know or study for?
If you can offer any advice or kind words to help ease my nerves I would appreciate it! We can't wait to add a new addition to the family, but we are still new and unsure of the process. Thanks for the help!!
Bridget

I can't help you with CSS, but I can say the homestudy process is as easy or as hard as your Social worker makes it. I used a local agency and my SW was wonderful. I've adopted 2x and my initial homestudy was clearly explained to me step by step and updating it for #2 was a breeze.
Good luck!

I can't offer any advice on that since I'm just an adoptee but I can say don't lie to your children about being adopted and try to reunite them when they get older because my Aparents didn't tell me until I was 11 and it hurt me that they lied to me and I can't ask them to help in my search because they got mad when my non-biological brothers wanted to search for their birth families so as you can see if you dont support your children they will hate you like I hate my Amom
