How young does your church start teaching the Catholic faith?
Our church just started a class for 1-3 year olds which I am very happy for. They mostly read stories and sing songs but it is a start to building her faith.
I don't think our CCD classes start until 4-5 yr olds. How nice that your parish is starting them so early!!

Our church started CCD with 5 year olds-but recently added a class for preschoolers. I wish we had a class for tiny tots. It's great that your daughter can have this experience. I know Hanna would love it.
That is really fantastic that you have classes that young! Kiddos can go to childerns litergy during mass as young as they want, but have to be able to take some direction, so about 2 or 3 they can start. I live in a small town and we head into the city (1/2 hour) for mass as we do not have a catholic church or school out here so when DS is in school, I plan to start a Catechism class out here. I hope we will have enough interest so DS can learn along with his buddies! But you now have me thinking, maybe I'll try to get a preschool class together in a couple years!
I think they start either Pre-K or K age. I wish there was something sooner--even if it was just a parent with the child for a brief period each week to come together at church.

I don't think our CCD classes start until preschool. We don't have a nursery, and I think I remember a few years ago there was a Children's Liturgry some
times, but I don't remember if they still have it.
I was just looking online last week at a b log where one mom uses some Catholic Homeschooling lessons. I clicked on their website, and they have materials for preschoolers. I may order some.
Stork, that reminds me too of a catechetical "magazine" for children. There are ones for each age group, preschool and up, by Pflaum publishing. It is a little magazine for each week, based on the Sunday reading. I used them on Fridays when I taught Kindergarten in a Catholic school. Loved them. I think "Seeds" is the one for very young children.
A friend just went this week to go to some training, a Montessori training with the emphasis on teaching about God to very children as Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Her daughter is 2. I hope she will share some good ideas when she returns!

Our parish offers CCD for 3yr - Kindergarten during the masses each weekend. They also offer a Children's Litergy during mass during Advent and Lent (Kindergarten - 5th grade). I would love to learn of any good Catholic preschool curriculums for our child care providers to use during our Mother's Sharing Group time twice a month. Any good ideas out there? Is anyone familar with VBS curriculums? We have used the Catholic version of the The Group's program but we are interested in a program that doesn't have Catholisism tacked on as an after thought.
Thanks for sharing.
