Okay, so I have some weird, so to speak, keepsakes given to me by my son's adoptive family - his umbilical cord stump and the first two teeth he lost. I was wondering if anyone else has stuff like this or am I the only one who has a stash of weird things?

Not quite so weird - a lock of hair, his hospital ID bracelet and his original birth certificate was all I had and when I met him for the first time this week I gave him an album with everything in it so now I don't have anything. Of course, I was in a closed adoption so I wouldn't have had the opportunity for the lost teeth!

While I don't think of the objects I have as wierd, I was also in a closed adoption, so the only objects I could keep pertained to the hospital time we had together. I kept her bow from her hospital picture, her bracelet, her makeshift pacifier(bottle lid with a heart sticker over the opening), a couple of her empty bottles, her lotion and her baby cap. I can still smell her on it, and I keep it all in the bag that came from the hospital.
I don't have the umbilical cord stump...lol...sorry, that is a little weird, but I can understand the sentiment behind it. It makes it sweet. They used to have little special containers for the first tooth and one for a curl of hair.
I have my bracelet from the hospital of course, and the birth certificate with her footprints on it, the last bottle I fed her at the hospital, and a spoon engraved with my midwife's name on it... so I have a few momentos. Finleigh's parents have the shirts, blankets, and hats she wore, and her bracelet.
Gosh I miss her.
I think whatever you're given or keep is not weird at all.

Tara, if I had access to the strange and unusual, I am SURE I would have it! haha... And if I am offered anything like teeth, I would CERTAINLY accept it and treasure it!
My DH still has some of our children's baby teeth in one of his bureau drawers (our youngest is 29 this month)... The only thing I have from D's birth is the bill. LOL. I have kept it the whole time... showed it to him at our first f2f (for some reason he didn't want it!!!) I have nothing... no hair, no foot print, no baby picture, no original birth certificate (I wasn't even supposed to see him.) I think I would treasure a few wierd keepsakes (LOL).

I have photos that I begged off of the social worker.
I scanned them in and emailed them to bson when we first started communicating.
He showed them to his dad who got a big kick out of them!
With my girls I have the bracelets from the hospital. I didn't keep the umbillical cord stumps!
I don't think anything you keep from your kids is weird tbh...
Add me to the list of people who received the umbilical cord stump and thought it was weird. Another item I found a bit odd was when the Amom sent us one of Andrew's diapers (not dirty thank goodness). Haven't received an oddball keepsake in awhile but there for awhile at the beginning the Amom was on quite a roll with the "interesting" items she sent us.
