Hi,
My husband and I live in Iowa and are considering domestic adoption. He has great credit and mine is so-so at best (I have had a compulsive spending problem but I think I have a handle on it now). I was wondering: With the home study, how deeply do they look into your finances? Do they do a credit check? I know my credit was checked, along with my husband's, before we purchased our first home last year, and the banker assured me that my credit was "good" and so we got the loan for our home. Anyway, I've had various problems with spending and credit card debt (right now, it's at about $3,000) for about 6-7 years. I'm just wondering if this stuff will come back to haunt me. I really want to parent a child, but I don't want to have my past financial issues hinder me.
