Double Stroller Mamas: Advice Please!

Are you only looking for a front/back stroller or would you use a side-by-side stroller? I've had both, and I LOVE my SBS stroller! For a front-back stroller, they're all pretty much the same. Playing with it in the store --- haha! Add 20-50lbs of baby and try again! It's like trying to push a dead Volkswagon down the street! ;) I've had a Cosco FB stroller, and a Jeep FB stroller - both deadly heavy, but the Jeep slightly better. My neighbour has a new Safety 1st one, and she said it's fairly light to push, as the weight is fairly centred over the wheels. For front-back, I think this one sounds perfect! Both seats recline, with 1 car seat adaptor (you can buy another), seats can face you or forwards, or each other, AND it has little handles on the sides for older kids.... Methinks I might have to get one for myself!! LOL I think it looks really great for centering over the wheels as well, so it's not so "front-heavy". I have two! My kiddos are 27 months apart. I have [URL="http://www.nextag.com/InStep-Safari-TT-Double-507933197/prices-html"]this jogger[/URL] (even though I don't jog, just walk ALOT) that I've used outside and on some pretty rugged terrain walking in the river valley and mountain trails. I have used it in the mall too, just very wide but pushes so easily. I bought [URL="http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_snuzz.php"]this [/URL]and used it for Roo as early as six weeks. It kept him so snug in it. I also have [URL="http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?siteId=117&productId=414755&cm_ven=Froogle&cm_ite=OSA"]this one[/URL] and it has literally changed my life. Bug loves to walk but this lets her ride as well (not to mention you can buckle her in for a time out). We started using it when she was about 2 1/2 (which is the recommendation) so Nicholas may be a little young for this in the beginning. It has a bar for an infant carrier for the front seat though I've never used it since Roo was already out of his infant seat. I love this too, for short runs to the grocery store. Bug walks and I stick the little basket in the back part to shop. It is perfect for malls, the zoo, library etc but I wouldn't use it much for long distances as it can get quite heavy (although really, compared to other travel systems strollers and another double I used in the very beginning, it isn't that heavy). There you go... love both of these!!!

We have the Graco Duo Glider. I have a love/hate relationship with this stroller. I love the large, spacious, comfy seating and the extra large cargo area and features. However, it is HUGE and I find it hard to get in and out of my mini van and sometimes difficult to fold down. I have stood in a hot parking lot cussing at the thing cause I can't get it to fold. :arrow: (people laughing at me didn't help :hissy: ) So, there are good aspects - but bad as well as far as I am concerned. I am currently putting that stroller in my garage sale and am looking at another one - one more practicle for us for older kids that is lighter weight and a tad more compact. I think we are leaning toward the one mentioned a few posts back - the Contours Option Tandem Stroller by Kolcraft. I was pretty impressed with it when I looked at it the other day. Let us know what you decide on! :)

LADIES... YOU ARE NOT HELPING. Now I'm even MORE overwhelmed. Holy Moly Stroll..y. hehThese are some nice ones. I'm digging a few of these, really. (And passed the one that both seats fully recline on to a Mama of twins that couldn't find one to do so!) Keep 'em coming. Even if my head is exploding.Ha, that's my goal, TOO! I'm justing after the Ergo right now but trying to be fiscally responsible at the moment since it does us no good IMMEDIATELY so it's pointless to buy NOW. But still... mmm. Oh my, I was teaching when I saw this thread and couldn't WAIT to respond! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Combi side by side. It rocks. It is so easy to turn, and maneuver. Flods up small and has a spot for the infant seat, if you want it. The only tiny issue is that there are no kiddo cup holders. Not that big of a deal though. I was concerned that Timo would bug Marco if he was sitting next to him, but he doesn't. He actually helps by putting his paci back in if Marco is screaming! Go try one out. LOVE LOVE. Dawn

I love, love, love my combi side by side as well. Here are my positives... The seats fully recline so I use it now when Molly is only six weeks. There is a five point harness for Molly, but with Jack I just use the lap belt.(We took it to the mall and Jack, who by the way is 13 months but already 34 inches tall, actually stayed in it. I was shocked as he hates to be contained for even mere seconds.)It steers amazingly. I can do it with one hand. It trifolds so it fits in my trunk (honda civic)Once folded, it has a shoulder strap you can use to carry it. Once folded, it has a little wheel so you can pull it like luggage~great for traveling. It is super lightweight for a double strollerIt's about as wide as a standard wheel chair, so it fits in doorways while shopping. Negatives...It does not have much storage underneath.There are no cup holders on mine. You can buy a more expensive model that has cup holders though. I went crazy researching double strollers and I have no complaints. I really love it!! Good Luck.

Jenna - I'm pm'ing you about my stroller (it's a lot different)

We went with a SBS and couldn't be happier that we made that decision. I narrowed my search to either the Valco Runabout Trimode Twin stroller or the Zooper Tango. My dh surprised me with the Valco. It pushes like a dream, and I do mean a dream. I have over 50 lbs of kids in it and 15lbs diaper bag and I can still push it easily with just one hand. But it is a bit heavy and large(although only 29" wide) to lift up & down. I currently have it in the back of my minivan fully open, I just put it in and out. A friend of mine has it as well, and it fits into her trunk if she removes the wheels. In hindsight, I think I would have prefered the Zooper. it is lighter, folds smaller. It isn't as easy to push, but I think I would have traded that for ease of folding. Although I really do love my Valco, so who knows. My dh bought the Valco brand new from a great ebay store for about $100 off the retail price (which is pricey) and it included a few extra add ons. ETA: The valco can accomodate a host of infant carseats.

I've seen one of these and it was great! I think right now I couldn't use it 'cause my boys would fight over who got to sit/stand in the back!I have a Graco something or other. We have used it quite a bit, but it is big and bulky.I would say, if you're going to wear the infant, then maybe stick with a single stroller at least for awhile and then when he is a bit bigger you can decide what will be the most accommodating. JMHO. :)ETA: I'd try and stick with a 5 point harness system...although I don't have one, I wish I did!

This stroller is seriously the Cadillac of all strollers and is pretty heavy, but for all it's functionality it truly is excellent. My girls LOVE it and will probably enjoy it even more so as they get older.I saw that OP already purchased one she was happy with, but I just wanted to put this out there for any other curious minds.

I have the Jeep double stroller (one behind the other) & love it - only problem - it won't fit in my trunk (I have an audi A4) Keep that in mind if you don't have an SUV or mini-van. I have to ride w/ it in my front seat & 2 kids in the back-errrr!
