Sorry I posted this in another section also but maybe the florida board can help.
:roadblock:
My husband and I are awaiting our foster care liscense. Our papers were supposedly sent to the state last week for approval. I'm really excited because we have been working on this since Feb.
There's a problem though. We (my husband especially) are getting frustrated with our agency. We are in central florida and are going through a good agency but we don't like the caseworker who has been coming to our house for our homestudies and doing our paperwork. She has admitted to not liking kids and only loving "the paperwork" part of her job. She has been giving us a hard time about insignifant things.
The one major thing she has a problem with is our work schedule. I am a pediatric nurse and work nights. My husband works in recieving in retail and he also works nights. I only work 3 days a week and my husband only works 4. We are extremely close with my husbands sister and her family. We spend the majority of our time at her house with her and our nephews. She is a SAHM and wants to watch our children for us while we work. Our working nights is not a permanent thing but we can't afford not to right now because the difference in pay between days and nights is huge. The baby would only be at her house 2 nights a week from 9pm until 7am. Our agency says its ok as long as she gets a daycare liscense. She and her husband have had the background checks done and are our primary backups. She would be willing to do that but her homeowners insurance company will drop her if she does. And finding homeowners insurance in Florida is awful since the hurricanes. What does it matter if she has a daycare liscense or not? They will be a big part of the child's life as we are to our nephews. My husband told me this morning he is ready to forget about fostering and try private adoption because of the hard time we are getting. But we are so close!! And private adoption is so expensive!
:hissy:
If your relatives are willing to they could watch the baby at your house the two nights a week you need care. Remember it is your house that gets the license and any one that has already had there back ground check done can come to your home to provide care. After the adoption is finalized it doesn't matter what the agency thinks about it anymore.
