that deals with adoption? I would really like to see something like this become a norm in churches. Some of rely so much on our faith and could use the support.

Our local Catholic Charities has ongoing programs for adoptive families---not tied to any one parish, but we do activities---picnics, Advent program, etc. and kind of rotate among the various parishes for those. It's nice to get to know other adoptive families, birthparents, and adoptees.

Our church has nothing. No support or education at all. We are averagely involved in our parish and I approached the pastor to ask him if we could possibly start one up...he graciously declined and said there was no room in the program for such a group. DH and I are currently looking for a new parish.
No, I wish there was something like that available. There is a local Catholic Charities Office, but it was hard to find information, and when I finally did, they told me the only adoptions they work with are Open, and the fees involved. I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling so I went international.

To my knowledge there are no support groups for adoptive parents at my local parish as well. My adoptive agency in Philadelphia is connected with the Church and the agency throws an annual picnic, but there are no regular support groups. I know there was definitely an interest in starting a group. Perhaps I need to call a few people and start one.
I wanted to share something I thought was nice that happened in our diocese last week. We held our annual "Walk for Adoption" , which the bishop always opens w/ a blessing and a few words. He said "Because we believe in the sanctity of life, we must be prepared to support all of that life, beyond simply fighting against abortion." Honestly, I am not sure enough people look at it that way.
