Hi Denice! I am trying to get up the courage to go and talk to ds's class about adoption. I don't know why the thought terrifies me! I've done it before when he was real little, my sil had me come into her class and talk to them. And I used to be a teacher! I guess because these are his peers and I am afraid I will mess up and make it hard on him. AHHHH!!! Maybe I'll email his teacher and talk to her about it.
Ani, you will do a great job---you are always kind and articulate about adoption issues! Here's what we're up to this month: 1. We're chairing our agency Walk for Adoption benefit on Sunday. I am pretty pleased because we have already exceeded last year's total on fundraising, which makes it easier for the agency to cover birthmother expenses.2. We're going to be on TV on Friday w/ H to talk about the benefit and about our adoption story. 2. This month's issue of our local city magazine has H's first "print work"----an ad about the walk w/ a good picture of him (not so great of me, unfortunately)3. This month, my dh has put together a Native American film festival at the non-profit independent theater organization he chairs. There was a great article (same magazine) about the festival and why he created it----H is Cherokee, so we wanted to connect him to that heritage. DH is so proud he is about to burst. And I am so proud of him!

I am working on an email to his teacher, just haven't finished it yet. I want to find information on the kid's level you know?ETA: I just realized this isn't the Adoptive Mothers forum! LOL, oh well, I can still participate even if I'm not Catholic, right?

Ani, Denice---I sent the calendar link to our director and we'd love to reproduce it to hand out to the people that attend the walk on Sunday. I sent an e-mail to a.com to ask permission to reproduce it, but do either of you know, in your great moderator wisdom, if that is OK?
