Point: what do I need to write on a letter to send the biological father notifying him of my husband wanting to adopt my son?
Story: :coffee: A year ago I got married to the man that has been with me since my son was 8 months old (he was the only father he knew of until about 1.5 years ago). Only contact the birth father ever had with my son was when I took it upon myself to call him or send him letters or pictures updating him on our son.
My husband wants to adopt my son. I spoke with an attorney who suggested I send the birth father a letter letting him know of our intentions, but I have no idea what to write...I guess I worry about 'hurting' or 'upsetting' the birth father with what I might write. So...I've been trying to find a 'sample' letter online but I cannot find anything. Anyone has any ideas?
Oh wow, I am not sure. I have not been in your situation, but I know other people on the forums have, so hopefully one of them will see this and answer for you!
I hope all goes well for you.

Thank you for your reply and well wishes. I just pray we go through this smoothly. We're giving ourselves until February to take all the steps necessary with the help of an attorney...enough time to raise the $$ for it too ;)
I put a link on the step parent adoption support hoping people will come and answer your question for you!
