Help!!! Cameron has been waking up at night soaking wet. I am changing his sheets daily. We are no longer sleeping through the night. What can I try? We switched to overnight diapers. We switched to the next size up in overnights. I just don't know what else to try. Last night he went to bed at 7:30 and was up at 11:30 for a diaper / pj's change. This is NOT working!
Thanks!!
Marci, is he getting a bottle or sippy cup right before bed? I am just wondering if you can push that back a bit, and then change him right before bed?
Also, I have found that for some reason the ONLY diapers that work with leaking with DD are Pampers...
Sorry, I know this is tough!

Hey Marci,
I second the one size up Pampers Baby Dry. We are having that (among other if you saw my post) sleep issue around here. My Mom told me that DS is at an age now where if he is eating and drinking good all day, the nightime bottle/cup could be cut down. Her suggestion is to give him a bedtime snack about and hour or more before bed with a little milk, then that is it for drinks and change him before bed. If bottle is part of bedtime routine, introduce a new routine like teethbrush, pj's, story and cuddle, then bed. I don't know, I haven't tried this yet, harder on Mommy that Baby I bet to cut out that last bottle, but I think we will start this this weekend.
Good luck to you!
We are having MAJOR feeding issues. (Lots of tests, specialists, etc.) so we cannot chnage feeding stuff much. He is getting one bottle per day right before bed. Most days that is the only liquid we get into him. I am going to work on moving it up. But, I am waiting until after the time change. I think that will throw our routine off enough... I don't know how he gets so wet considering he drinks so little, but he does.
I think we are about to move up to the next size of diapers anyway, so maybe I will try those at night. Or even move up another size at night.
Thanks!!
Marci,
Is he urinating normal during the day? I mean the normal diaper changes? I would second trying to move his last bottle up just a tad to see if that helps with one last diaper change right before bed.
For us it also seems to depend on ... er ... which way his little winkie is pointed. We have more leaks when it is pointed in certain directions. (Do NOT ask me how it moves around, but it does and if it is pointing straight up we get wet shirts/sheet/blankies. If it is pointing to the side it goes down his leg.)
We used to buy diaper doublers. They were these things that went inside the diaper to add to the amount of liquid they can absorb. I used to buy them at Safeway, and this was a few years ago, so am not sure where/if you can still get them.
We usually go up a size, and use the more expensive brands when we have night time wetting issues. For my guys it was Huggies that seemed to work, but we had major diaper rash issues due to digestive and reflux problems. I haven't used the "new" Pampers; that is, new in the last 3 years. :D We buy cheapies and they are working for the two I still have in diapers.

Try to find Diaper Doublers. I am in Florida and they are at Publix (supermarket)...they are in the diaper section...very cheap...and look like a big maxi pads. And they work great.
Here in the Pac NW we do not have diaper doublers that I have ever been able to find. My son is a HEAVY wetter and very big for his age. We had the same problems and ended up trying Goodnights. They are made for older kids who still have accidents, so they hole ALOT! My SIL was having the same issue and I reccommended them to her...they now use them too!
We went to cloth at night to get rid of our HORRENDOUS leaking problem. (I was doing sheets/blankets EVERY morning. Gah.) We got six (large) Fuzzi Bunz that came with the normal microterry cloth liners. We then ordered six hemp liners. Hemp is super absorbant. So right now we put one hemp liner in with one microterry liner. (For those who don't know, Fuzzi Bunz are pocket diapers.)
One leak. In almost a month. I do diaper laundry once per week.
:)

Jenna, does he get diaper rash? I have heard cloth causes diaper rash worse because it does not pull the urine away from the skin like disposables do. Cameron's occupational therapist told us not to cloth because we have too many issues to take a chance that he will start holding his poo due to diaper rash... She suggested I buy some of those training underwear and rubber underwear liners to go over the diapers to catch the pee...

Marci,
We went through this in stages off and on. Always before, I was able to move up a size. THen the Huggies Overnights worked great - UNTIL we hit the largest size they have.
THis week, I've tried larger sizes, Good Nites, Pull Ups, Easy Ups - you name it.
Tonight, I did one Good Nite over one large size Pampers. I bought plastic pants/diaper covers to try next, and I just told T last week I was thinking I'd just end up going w/ the cloth (he does not like the sound of that, but so what? I do the baby laundry...) Got that idea form Jenna's blog - there are a LOT of posts there about different types to use. You know I've never ordered anything online, but I think this is going to be the first item...
Oh, and I couldn't find the doublers up here anywhere..
Happy to report that we've had a few mornings now with DRY PJs! Unbelievable....
Our current successful formula (knock on wood) is a size 6 Pampers Cruiser with a pair of plastic diaper cover pants over the top. This worked, where even the Cruiser+Nighttime PullUp over the top failed!
