I baked cookies with my boys Saturday. Out of all the cookie cutters, they liked the train the best, so we have a bunch of trains and a few snowmen, but that's it! ;)
Their little voices were so sweet. They had flour all over them and my youngest son wrapped his arms around me and gave me a nice, floury kiss.
They talked about how much fun this was, and they want to do it again on Christmas eve, for Santa, of course!
I love these memories. I didn't do things like this as a child, and I want my kids to grow up with as many happy family memories as they can.
Then Sunday morning at church, my little guy sang every song with us. He sang out loud, he sang strong, and he didn't end when we did. :D He kept right on going.
I love these moments, these memories. I pray they last a lifetime for my boys. Something good to hold on to.
I don't like to bake but I do enjoy baking with the kids. We will do the cut outs after they go on break for the holidays and they love the whole process.
DD came up with a great idea this year for Christmas Eve (we started talking about traditions we would like to do as a family) She wants to bake a birthday cake for Jesus and then on Christmas morning, sing to Him and of course eat it for breakfast! :) LOL!

Isn't that just sweet. I love when they come up with talks. How fun for you. Glad you got to enjoy a nice day with them.
I hate making rolled and cut out cookies...so haven't done this with my kids. () I used to have my mom make that kind of thing with my kids, but she is no longer living. I guess at some point I'll have to force myself to do it. :D
We do cook together, though. Both my older Ds's made dinner with me this a.m. (I cook in the a.m. before school and right after breakfast, put in frige, then put the cassaroles in the oven in time for dinner.) It's fun to watch how engrossed they are with frying hamburger, or adding flour to the mixer, etc. One son has announced that he's going to be a cook, and cook for me!, when he's grown up. Of course this IS after watching "Ratatouille" 49,000 times in the last 2 weeks, so we'll see how it plays out. :D
Barki - I hate to bake....so I found a wonderful shortcut to this event!:) I buy the box of "ready made" cookie dough that you add water & egg to. PRESTO! You have dough! The kids do not care if it's homemade...;)
The other thing I've done too is buy the already made dough that you usually find by the refrigerator rolls (pillsbury rolls). You just scoop it out and bake. PRESTO! Cookies LOL!

I love the cookie stuff! I have had my nephew and friend's children over every year to decorate cookies. I let them mix their own icing colors, so sometimes the combinations are pretty interesting. They're also big on the dragees and sprinkles, so Santa usually looks like he's wearing chain mail.
This year, our neighbor's little boy asked me, very politely, if we could please bake cookies at my house on a day that he wasn't in school. He told me, in a conspiratorial tone, that his mom tried to bake cookies, but they were not the same.
So it looks like I am having a cookie party at my house in a couple of weeks!
Crick have you seen the new Pillsbury sheets of cookie dough? You don't have to roll anything out. They are in sheets and all you do is use your cookie cutters bake and decorate. Oh and they also have several bags of icing in with the dough.
No...but you can bet I'm going to look for them! LOL!
Thanks!!:)
Now...snickerdoodle dough? Any ready made of that kind? How about fudge? Is there a roll out fudge?;)
