Every year we get together with "my" family. Do to the fact that we are spread out and many of Mom and Dad's grandkids are now grwon we usually celbrate early (this year the 22nd). It is so good to get all of us togehter.. my family, my older brother and his wife, their two grown daughters, son in law and two grandkids; my younger brother, sister in law and their two boys that are close in age to mine; and my younger sister, brother in law and her two grown kids, along with my folks who are both in their 8's now. I suspect that after they are gone these may be a thing of the past.
We always go to the Christmas Eve service. Our church has two, one at 7 pm the other at 11. We go to the 7:00 service as a family, then I go back for the 11 by myself. The solitude and quietness of it is very moving. By the time I come home everyone is sound asleep so I can play santa.
Christmas Day we spend with my inlaws. We have snacks and sandwich fixings rather than a sit down dinner, and after opening gifts the kids go play with all their new toys and the grown ups play board games all day.
