For those of you living outside the US & interested in adopting with an American agency ... or those of you US citizens living overseas I have good news.
The US ratified the Hague Convention on the 12th!
This is great news for those of us living far away. Basicly it means that the country we are currently living in will not / can not object to our US initiated IC adoptions.
For me and my husband it's even more so good news since I am American and he is French and we live in the UK! We were worried about how to declare our child as both an american citizen and a French citizen and until now the French government has been threatening us to contest our adoption.
Now the the US is a full HC member, they can't contest our adoption and neither can the UK. Finally our final fear has gone. Our future son will have the same citizen rights as his sister!
