After a 7 month roller coaster ride in the adoption process, we need to postpone our adoption due to financial issues. After we have saved up the fees for adoption (we're guessing it will be this summer), we plan on changing agencies to LDSFS. Can anybody tell me what sort of wait times we may be in for? We are open to ANY race, we have been expecting an AA or biracial baby through our current agency. Any info would be helpful! Thanks!
Applied, (April 1999)... had to wait to take the adoption classes... We finished our paperwork w/LDSFS in late Nov (2000) and got the call mid-April (2001), born a few weeks later.
From what I understand, you can now finish your paperwork while attending the classes. Our "wait time" was 6 months.

We waited for about four months before we got an email from our birthmother who had seen our profile listed on their website. She was only sixteen weeks along at the time so by time she actually decided to become matched with us we had been on there about six months. It's hard to take into consideration the time you will wait because you are only chosen when a birthmother chooses you, and not before. I've seen many couples wait less than a year for their child, and I've seen just as many wait literally years (4+) without any contacts, or any intererest at all. So it's hard to say, because if your the one family that isn't chosen for years hearing about other family's quick placements doesn't make you feel any better.
And this is JUST MY OPINION, so take it as such. But we found that those who had short wait times often were families that were childless, or with one adopted child, and were wanting an open adoption. Each birthmother is unique and will have different requirements as to what she feel is the "pefect" adoptive family for her child. She chose our family first and foremost because she felt prompted that we were "the family" for her child. But she also chose us based on our family background, education and careers. It's different for every girl though. I don't think we can discuss specific agencies here, so I won't go into discussing them on this board. Feel free to pm me if you'd like. Our experience with them has been less than steller, but we put up with it because it was affordable. We won't be doing that again if there is a next time. But that's another topic for discussion :).
Please remember that all agency discussion must be done by PM only! Thanks! :)

Did you get any replies regarding the wait times for LDFS? From what I have heard from others, the wait time is quite long.
I talked with our locale LDFS office and they said their wait time is 2+ years.
Just wondering what others said.
