With the new year I just keep thinking how each year keeps going so fast. I look at my boys and wonder where did this last year go and also think how handsome they look....lol What milestone have you encountered with your kids to make you look twice? I am proud of my 7 year old to read better since he has struggled with it. My 3 year old is just a very active little boy that is to smart for us all....lol

My oldest is almost 12 now.. and coming dangerously close to looking me eye to eye. It seems in the last month or two he had really shot up and I am finding it quite disconcerting. He is so handsome too, and sweet hearted.
And E, my 8 year old has grown so emotionally. We have had such struggles with him, but this fall we were able to finally start him with occupational therapy and have him on some meds that are helping with his mood distrurbances. He is so much calmer and happier. He is smiling more, singing more, cooperating again... His future is finally looking bright.

For us, it's the abstract thinking. H is 27 months and pretty verbal. We were out at lunch w/ some friends recently, H opened up a sugar packet on the table (ugh) but then sprinkled it out and said "It's snowing!" He's only seen snow twice, and as far as I know, he's never seen a sugar packet opened before (neither dh or I ever use them.) How did he know what was in it or that it would look like snowflakes falling if you sprinkled it out? I am always just blown away by the way their brains work.
You know mrsred it won't be but another few years before my oldest looks me in the eye...not sure I am ready for that....lol HBV...how cute that he thought it was snow. My boys would just open and think they could eat it....lol Jenna...the love between two brothers is the best. My oldest the other morning said he loved his little brother and he said "awww thats really sweet". Thats from a 3 year old. Just remember when they get older with all the fighting and hitting they do love eachother. Really! It happens everyday in my house...lol
My boys are both doing very well these days. My youngest went from not speaking at all to being ahead in his speech. My oldest is too smart for his own good. He's a bit bored with school and likes to make up new "games" with his work, but he's doing well.I can't believe later this year they will be 7 and 4! :hissy:

My guy has really shocked us the past month or two. I'm both excited to see his development and sad to say good bye to my baby and hello to my toddler.Physically he grew ALOT! He went from still wearing 6m pants (at 14months!) to wearing 18m pants in just 6 weeks or so. CRAZY!And from saying Da Da all day long a couple months ago to pretty much talking now, if you listen carefully. He tries to say everything and is doing well. He just started putting words together to make small sentences too. I LOVE that I can communicate with him this way now. His comprehension is amazing, he will answer questions, specify his wants, and follow directions. And of course along with all this amazing new growth has also come tantrums! But for now, I even find those amazing! lolHBV - how smart! sugar snow!mrsred and drangonfly - I don't wnat to think about the day my boy will look me in the eyes yet!Jenna - I can't wait to see how DS will be as a big brother. He is really taken by babies right now and is very gentle with them. (We are 6 weeks on the list now for #2 so I'm getting anxious!)
2007 was a great year for my little guy. He went from being a shy unattached, easily overstimulated, severely developmentally delayed, transition hating, couldn't be in pre-K, scared little boy to a loving, caring child who has grown leaps and bounds in all aspects of his life...he is actually in a special needs pre-K and is thriving...his speech is getting better on a daily basis. The child we once thought may be autistic has friends for the first time in his life...he wants to have friends! And physically, while he is still my skinny boy...he has gained 3 pounds since July...huge for him since he has oral sensory issues and oral aversions to most foods and gained no weight in the year previous to the July weigh in!
