Our paperwork has been in Kaz since June. We don't even know a region yet. I am getting so po'ed at our agency i can hardly stand it. I email ones a week and sometimes they dont even respond to me. Ii
was told because we are requesting the youngest possiable that it may take longer but this is getting a little old. I don't even know what to do. Everyone says trust your agent but what happens when you start to loose that trust. Sorry about the venting.

Hang in there. Does your agency work in a lot of regions???
You should have an idea of which regions so you can begin to study where you might be going.

I would start and call the agency, every day, until they give me some real answers. Remind them that YOU are the customer. It's a business. At this point it's been over 6 months, which is ridiculous. You CAN pull your dossier and go with another agency. Tell them you plan to do that if you don't get a referral SOON. You have every right to be assertive.
Agencies can be maddeningly slow, and they think they have the upper hand. They don't.
Since you are emotional about this, I would write out what I want to say and practice it before calling them. You might want to have your husband on the call, too. Unfortunately, sometimes men can get further.
I said a prayer for you. That works, too! Good luck!

It must be hard to not receive call backs. I know this is too late for this, but when I was looking for an agency one of the questions I asked was "What is your policy on call backs." For those of you who are looking for an agency ask this question. I am with LMI and I receive an email or call back within 24hrs. It is so helpful in keeping you focused and not worrying.
Hang in there.
You may want to confirm that your gender/age/ethnicity preferences are in line with what the in-country staff is looking for.
Referrals are still illegal, so demanding one will not help much to motivate them.
I have heard of a couple cases where people were waiting a long time, only to be told the wait was due to the agency's misunderstanding that they wanted a child under 8 months/girl/caucasian/no medical issues. All things that will delay the identification of a child.
For piece of mind you may want to talk to some of the more established agencies and see what your financial options are at this point to switch.

For our first adoption we requested "either gender, as young as possible" and once we switched to a good agency travel was very quick. Getting your dossier back from an ineffective agency is scarry but possible.
For our second adoption we requested an older girl (4-6 yrs old), from the same region our son is from. In spite of the fact that we were VERY specific we still completed our adoption in less than six months. Yes there are no referrals in Kaz and it is good to be somewhat flexible in your requirements. Our daughter was younger than we initially wanted (2.5 yrs old).
Stay in communcation with your agency and don't apologize for it. Be polite but assertive. Document EVERYTHING! Hope this helps.
the agency told me yesterday that our paperwork is still at the min of education. And there reasoning was because of the amount of dossiers they have right now. I want to threaten them that i will pull our dossier and move to a diffrent agent but i am not sure if that will help matters or make them worse. I may consider that option if i dont hear anything by say Feb 1. they also said the people they are in contact with in Kaz said it should be soon. How relieable that is who knows.

It will happen for you!
We had our dossier in country 10months before traveling. I was extreemly frustrated and our agency was horrible and offered no supprt or information most of the time.
Now, I wouldn't change a thing because we have the most perfect daughter! I know everyone tells you this...but when you have your baby the wait/frustration/pain wont matter anymore. Do you know of others who have successfuly adopted from your agency? If so, I suggest just waiting it out. If they have come through for other people, most likley they will for you!!
We are in the same boat. We just heard from Kaz attorney that said the wait is really long for infants now b/c the country is loaded with "transfer" dossiers from Guatemala and other countries that have closed down for adoption...hang in there...KR

hI EVERYONE,
i AM NEW TO THIS FORUM BUT i AM VERY INTERESTED IN KAZAKHSTAN ADOPTION.
I AM REALLY LOOKING TO ADOPT A GIRL, SINCE WE ADOPTED A BOY FROM GUATEMALA LAST YEAR. I WOULD
LIKE A LITTLE GIRL UNDER 2. IS THIS POSSIBLE TO HAVE IN 12 MONTHS. aLSO IT SEEMS AS THOUGH SOME FAMILIES STAY IN KAZ 35 DAYS AND OTHERS ARE 8 WEEKS WHY IS THAT? CAN YOU CHOOSE THE REGION WITH YOUR AGENCY THAT YOU WILL SPEND LEST TIME
IN THE COUNTRY? I AM IN PA, CAN ANYONE RECOMEND A GOOD AGENCY FOR US. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Ourboylucas: We returned from Kaz in June with our daughter. From the time of submission of our paperwork until we traveled was 5 months. I don't know if that time frame is still viable at this time or not.
Our daughter was just under 9 months when we brought her home.
We were not allowed to chose the region. I think there is only one region that was still operating with families spending on 35 days in country and to be honest I don't know if that is still a possibility or not.
