I've never thought the day would come but like most birthparents I had hoped it would be soon.See every year I've wished it would start with all my children home and safe. I've looked for my daughter Callie, who was placed for addoption when I was 15 since before she was 18. My husband enrolled me on this website for Valentine's Day 2004. I search it throughout the year and go through the pages of records.( 80 pgs) I did this on 12/28/2007 for 5hrs no new entries. On 12/30/2007 I called my aunt to vent before the new year, that here I go again,a new year a new search.Still nothing! Then a knock on the door.I didn't want to answer it so i asked my husband and let him know this wasn't a good time for company. My aunt and I were still talking about Callie. Then my husband came around the corner saying he had someone he wanted me to meet. I wasn't really interested in meeting anyone, what I was interested in was finishing my conversation and talking about my daughter whom I miss. The next words where "I want u to meet Callie." "MY CALLIE?" ya my Callie. I couldn't begin to tell you how shocked I was to be talking about this precious little baby and have a gorgious young woman walk in my door. "R U Sure" i asked and with her hands over her mouth in shock "ah huh" and a knod of her head was all I needed to throw my hands around her and we hugged. Of cource I needed to be sure, so I took her to my room where her photos set on my shelf from her adopted family and they were of her at ayear old. That was one of the only photos I had recieved after the adoption.
She looks just like me! I didn't see it till everyone calmed down but yes she is mine. We sat and talked for just a few minutes as I listened to her tell me about her children and gazed at the little baby 10wks old it dawned on me I'm a grandma! Not only to little Havanah but to Haddalyn 18mnths and Haden 3. She called me mom right off and grandma too. She was shocked to find out all her brothers and sisters know about her and that she never left my life in thought. Shewas talked about all the time. Never was unencluded in anything or anyone pertaining to conversation about my children or their siblings. She was just missed by all of us.
We talked for several hours and then they had to leave to return home an hour and ahalf away, so close but unfindable for so long. She found me three days after she started searching. Just like me u either do it or don't and that day she decided to just do it! So she did and it was as if she never left me. She was told about me from the begining and even compared to me by her adopted mom Julie. Julie made the transistion easy by letting her know I love her too. This is unbelievable that an adopted mother would talk with her daughter about the mom she didn't know and keep me alive in her world till I could come back in. We are one big family and no one is left out. Now we share seven children, I had six more after Callie, 4 girls and 2 boys.Five are from a previous marrage and Callies much younger 8wk old sister from my 2nd marrage. I hope my story gives hope to all the ones still looking and the ones that need found. God Bless! What an amazing new year!
