My husband and I are beginning to do research on becoming foster parents in the state of Michigan. We don't know to much on what we have to do. If there is anyong who could give us information on organizations in the metro detroit area that would be awesome. And any advice on becoming foster parents to make the process go smoothly.
I am in Bay City, Michigan and you can use the DHS - Department of Human Services for links to fosterparenting information. you would go thru your Dept of Human services office to get the process going and then take PRIDE classes before you can take children.:earth:

We are in Ingham County but we're working with Luthern Social Services in Ann Anbor because they are closer to where we work. We also chose this agency because they work with several counties (7-8)so we are hoping that will give us a larger pool to swim in KWIM?
There may be a branch nearer to you. You can call them and find out. Phone: (734) 971-1944. They have been wonderful to work with so far!
Hello, we are in St. Clair Co. We go through our local DHS office, but I have learned in the Detroit area there are many agencies people go through for foster care. If by some chance you are looking to adopt, you might find info on the MARES page on the internet. They offer training dates and info.Any questions feel free to contact me.
Hi,
I have just one more pride class to go. I am getting licensed through Ennis Center for Children. They have a office in Pontiac and Flint.
I have had a very positive experience so far. I have not had a home study, yet; however, I have turned in all of my paperwork.
Now I am in the process of making sure my house is ready and I have beds, etc..
Good luck.
