I have a 5 year old Pekingese named Angel. I also have a 12 year old cat named Princess but there was so much chaos going on between her and the dog (dog was the one making the trouble), my sister was kind enough to take my cat in.
No kids yet--still waiting on a placement but hopefully that will change soon!
We have Jack, our 4 year old cat that weighs 18 pounds, plays fetch and purposefully knocks glasses over. He is the one sewing in my avatar.
Then we have Bitsy, she is also a black and white cat, looks a whole lot like Jack, which really can confuse people the first time they visit (how did that cat get over here so fast?). she is "only" 13 pounds. She is 3 1/2 years old.
And last, we have Layla. She is a mix of pug and we aren't sure what else. She is also black and white. She is 26 pounds and about knee high. Her face sort of looks like a pug that had her nose fixed. She is 18 months, and a total spazz. She is very squirly... chews everything, barks too much, wants to play all the time. We got her from a rescue shelter last October.
My two older kids take turns, by the month, with one having litter box duty, and the other poop patrol.

I have 4 dogs, 4 rabbits and a fish. Two fullgrown males one is a Springer Spaniel named "Knight", and the other is a Havenese named "Casper". The females are 17 weeks old yesterday and are already 30 lbs their names are "Samantha" and "Abigail" named after the dog on "I am Legend" the dog's name in real life is Abby and it is Sam in the movie. Two of the rabbits are Mini Rex and their names are "Lulu" and "Totts". The other two are English Spot and their names are "Sweets" and "Bunn-Bunn". And finally the fighting fish's name is "Ethan". And for all of them I am the main caretaker. DH helps out a bit but for the most part it is all me. They are my pets and if it were up to DH we would not have any pets at all. But I won the arguement. lol
We have 2 apricot standard poodles, littermates named Hans & Fritz. H had a fish in his room until recently---it died during that week long power outage. I have a fish in my office, but he doesn't have a name. H can give the dogs their "cookies" when they come inside, and can let them in and out of the house, but doesn't feed them yet, though sometimes we'll let him scoop the dry food into their bowls before we mix it. And he likes to hug them.
You all have great pets and its great that the kids are helping with the feedings and taking care of them. We have a golden lab that is 3 and her name is Molly, a cat that is 11 years old that we call Everest, and we just added to our family during Christmas 2 fish (Mickey, and Minute) and a snail (Moose).
We have a dog (lab mix) who is a family pet, two guinea pigs who are strictlly the kids and a lot of fish that are mine. The kids take care of the guinea pigs with lots of reminders on my part and we all take turns cleaning up after the dog. Feeding the dog falls to whoever is not busy when she bangs on her dish.

Just saw this and had to post :) As you can see in my sig, we have 6 cats, a dog, 3 gerbils and a fish. The fish came from Walmart, the gerbils are sisters from the SPCA, the dog came from one pound, four of the cats came from another pound, and two of the cats were unadoptable/special needs cats at a no-kill shelter I used to volunteer with. I've had to rehome 2 other cats, before Pax came home, as they caused fights and one got veeeery jealous if I was with anyone else. They both live with my parents who are great pet owners, and I see them at least once a week. One of our special needs cats may also end up with my mom as she's been starting more and more fights since Pax came home, and she's really just not happy with a toddler in the house (and one of the rehomed cats was her "mate"). The other five are just sweet, quiet, happy cuddly things. Two of them let Pax do everything he wants. Same with our dog, she LOVES Pax and he calls for her all the time (especially when there's food on his hands that he wants her to lick off). As for names, our cats are Amar (the one we'll probably need to rehome), Hina, Ayla, Chandran, Yuki and Neva and they're 8, 5, 3, 3, and almost 2 year old littermates respectively. Our dog is at least 8, probably a bit older (adopted almost 6 years ago). The gerbils are... 2? The fish is a year I think, don't pay much attention. I have to say, some days I think we're crazy having so many, but aside from the one cat everyone coexists very peacefully. The gerbils love the cats and hang out as high in their cage as they can so they can see them, and we'll have 2 or 3 cats at a time on top of their cage relaxing and looking in, taking a half hearted swipe now and then. The dog gets along with everyone and is a bodywarmer for the cats and a food vacuum for me. When I think about it, Pax doesn't do anything to help out with the animals other than kicking them out of his room, but they do a lot to help me out with Pax. Maza cleans the floor under him, and cleans him, and sometimes helps him finish a meal ;) . The cats play with him and cuddle him, and often I'm able to distract him from a tantrum or a power struggle by pointing to one and saying "kitty!" They see me talking about them and next thing I know they've run over to my aid, wrapping themselves all around his legs and purring up a storm. I also need to add that one of Pax's first words in English was "dendo" (gentle) which accompanied a careful petting motion. We had to teach this right away since he was all about slapping the fuzzy intruders! He caught on quickly, though, that they'd run and hide for a few minutes if he wasn't "dendo".
