I am curious as to who all is out there who is waiting for a 0-2 year old from ICBF like we are....thought it would be fun to get a rough idea of how many of us there are on here and what stage we're in.
My husband and I are waiting for our first, actually still waiting for approval, but dossier went to Colombia last month. We are in Wisconsin. We are very excited, but we know that this is where we are supposed to wait and trust.

Congratualtions on starting the process and getting your dossier sent in! That's a huge accomplishment in itself! Now the hard part-the waiting-comes, but I hope that your process will be smooth and as quick as possible! My husband and I are waiting for our first too, an infant, but through the CRAN casa privada, not ICBF. But still, it's good to be in the company of fellow "waiters" so that we can all support eachother. Good luck!!

Me too, me too!! We are almost 6 months into our referral wait for an infant 0-2 years as well. :) The time goes so quickly and so slowly at the same time...I try not to think about potentially having a couple more years. I will just be excited that we are 6 months down!! :D
It's great to have all this company during the wait!
There is a website that frequently posts the most current version of the ICBF waiting list. It is the Spanish (from SPain) adoption group called ADECOP. Everytime ICBF posts a new list (about every 3-4 months) they post it to their web site. It shows what age range -- and the date of application that they are currently assigning to that age range. For example, right now, children 0-1 or 1-2 years old are being assigned to families whose application has a submission date in June of 2005. This means that all applications prior to June of 2005 for this age range have been assigned -- it could also mean that some families who submitted in July or August of 2005 may be assigned a child. It is all dependent on which regional you are assigned -- how many children they have in your age range. The region with the most adoptable children right now is Bucaramanga -- but this is overall in all age ranges. Back to the assignments. ICBF will not move the application assignment date on its waiting list forward until all applications from that time frame have been assigned for that particular category. Am I making sense? Here is the current waiting list. http://www.adecop.org/web/archivos/n86f1.pdf And here is the website: ADECOP. Federacin de Asociaciones de Adopcin Internacional For future reference, when you go to the website, use the scroll down bar in the page itself and scroll down until you see (Nueva Lista de Espera De Colombia) and then click on it.
SuMerced, posting that list reminds me of when I was awaiting a referral. I checked that list like a hawk. It was spot on for us. (but that wasn't always the case with other families waiting due to regional differences)
Have patience to those who are waiting. Our process was long, application sent 9/2003 and we left for Colombia 11/2005. We adopted from Bolivar (Cartagena).
For those who don't have children already at home, ENJOY it. You sleep more, go to the store whenever you feel like it, etc. I know that once you get your mind on becoming a parent nothing else seems to matter.... but sometimes my husband and I would do anything just to go to the bookstore at 8-9pm. lol! ;)

I check that all the time too Sumerce - I think one of your posts in the past is when I first found out about it, so thanks!
So there are four of us all within a few months of each other? That's cool!
I was wondering today if Colombia applications were down in 2006 due to Guatemala being such a large program at that time...maybe not, but I thought it was possible they could be related.
I have no idea about whether or not application numbers have increased or decreased. I will have to ask. Here are some things I can tell you. You file # reflects how many applications were received before yours. FOr example, in 2006, our # was 1191/2006. This means there were 1,190 other applicants prior to our application. Our application was submitted in September of 2006. OUr latest adoption has the # 1487 and it was submitted in Oct. What would be interesting to know is the # assigned to applications submitted in December to really see how many applications were submitted last year.

Just curious if any of you want to update! We are sending in our application to our agency this week hopefully....and I'm hoping to find some people to speak with!
I'm also a little worried about the age thing. My agency seems to think with our ages we'll be approved to adopt a younger baby, but from what I'm reading I should expect a 2-3 year old. we are 30 and 34 years old and our bio children are 4 and 2.
Jackie,I'm 30 and my husband is 36, and Anna was 4 1/2 months old at referral. Anyone 38 yrs. and younger is eligible to adopt an infant 0-2. Plus, ICBF is very careful about not disturbing birth order, and since you have a 2 yr. old already, chances are that you will receive a referral of a child younger than that.

But we're adopting from CRAN - like NashvilleGirl. We sent our dossier to Colombia last May and it took almost a year to be approved, which seems longer than our friends who have recently been through the process. (We know 2 couples who adopted from CRAN in the past year and in both cases they waited 4-6 months for acceptance and another 6-8 for a referral, but that's CRAN....I understand it is a longer wait with ICBF).
Our agency here (which has not been so helpful) tells us we are 'next' on their list, whatever that means. So I hope it will be this year sometime, but I'm not counting any chickens.
Oh, and we live in New England...does anyone else?
