Hi,
I am looking for my mothers Birthparents and/or siblings. She was born June 10, 1954. She was adopted through Children's Home Society of Washington. Had to stay in Foster home until 3 months old, then was allowed to go home with adoptive parents. Birthmother may have traveled to Washington from Midwest to have baby?
I have been looking unsuccessfully for years.

Tell your mom to contact Children's Home Society (CHS) and ask for "non-identifying information" (non-id). CHS gives some of the best non-id but they do charge quite a bit for it but it's worth it if you want to search on your own.

2. Contact the person listed in the "Pre- and Post-Adoption Support Services" section and just ask for "non-identifying information."
Your mom should also request non-id from the county where the adoption was finalized. That's usually the same county where the adoptive parents lived at the time. If you send me the name of the county, I can help you figure out what to do. Your mom will have to be the one to make the request because WA law allows only the adoptee, adoptive parents, and birth parents to get the non-id.
After you get the non-id info, you should be in pretty good shape as far as searching. : )

I have contacted CHS before, my mother has also. I am not sure if my mom ever got a call back after leaving a message. They were very busy at the time, I think there had been a news article about the woman who searches there.
We will give it another try! My mom was adopted in King County.

We are doing the search through a third party(a WA State policy). They have located a address for my mothers' Father in Chicago. I am excited, but who knows what will come of it. They just sent a letter out to him late last week or this week. They haven't found her mother yet, but I am guessing that a mother would be harder to find if she changed her last name.
