I am not sure if I am posting this question in the correct area but I am asking anyways. I have had a little person come into my care in the last few days and mom has not had insurance on him for a long while. He needs checkups and dental soon but my insurance wont cover him until the adoption is finalized in court. I am in Indiana can I get medicaid for him until my insurance kicks in or do I have to flip the bill until something happens?
I was under the impression that a Foster Child could be added to your insurance. You might push it a little harder.
If he is not technically foster, if they sign guardianship papers, then you should be able to add the child.
I am not sure about how medicaid would work, if he would be eligible.
Let us know what you find out though.

If guardianship papers have been signed, or if your little one is under the supervision of an agency for adoption, I believe you'd be able to get him into a medicaid plan.
And....if the birthmother of this child were to sign him up for medicaid (which...if an agency is involved could help her).....then, he'd be covered, even if he's living in your home.
You might try those options. I can fully understand your position. :)
Sincerely,
Linny
we can sign him up for hoosier health which is medicaid until my insurance kicks in. They allowed us to do this becasue he legally isnt mine and we are in no way related. They cant take him from me because we have signed stating we wish to adopt him and the mother signed relinquishing her rights.
