Hi--
I'm hopping over from the Guatemalan adoption board. We have 3 kids-- one bio son (age 11) and 2 beautiful Guatemalan sweethearts (ages 2 & 1).
We are considering hosting-to-adopt a Colombian child this summer. He/she would fall in the age range 7 - 11 (we would make sure that our son remains the oldest). He would stay at our home for 3 weeks this summer, and if he is a good fit with our family, we would adopt him (or her).
We are still praying & thinking. We may wait until next summer-- when our daughters are a little older & more verbal & independent. Does anyone have any experience adopting older kids from Colombia (or adopting out of birth order)? Any advice? The child would return to Colombia in August & then we would travel to Colombia to bring him home when all is finalized.
ANY advice/input etc is greatly appreciated. We know next to nothing about the process, etc.
Much peace,
Amy :)
Hi dovelu,
I have no personal experience but often read about kidsave. Have you heard about this program? Check out: Kidsave - Because Every Child Needs a Family
I am sure someone else may also have some insight!.

Thanks for the link! We went to an informational meeting tonight.... so much to think about! Exciting & scary!!! :)
Peace,
Amy
I'm an adoptive mother of an older Colombian child. We brought our 12-year-old daughter home in October of 2003. We also know of one little girl who was in her orphanage who was adopted through the summer program
Ask me anything you'd like. I've been doing this for a little while now. I believe I've got some answers, and I truly enjoy sharing.
Please remember that ALL profeissional services related to adoption MUST be discussed via PM.
I've edited/deleted 2 posts from this thread! Thanks!
