I am fortunate to have friends who are adoptees, amoms/dads and bmoms. It's been a learning experience in a lot of ways, and while each friendship is different, we do have an adoption commonality. We support each other and there's a true friendship involved with many. As with many friendship I tend to have, there's a lot of joking around and fun.
We joke about adoption on different levels, mock stereotypes, invent stereotype "personas" and just have times where we would likely sound extremely offensive to others. (example...I might say something and a friend who is a bmom will say "I can see how you would think that since you steal babies". and I might reply "Shush you Crackwhore!") It's obviously never stuff we would say seriously or even have the beliefs that set those stereotypes. I would never say or think these things with people I don't know or refer to this stuff with others not involved in adoption lest they believe it's true! lol.
I'm really curious....does anyone else have friendships like this across the triad and do you do the same thing at all? Or are me and my friends just totally offensive and need our heads examined?

Thank you so much for the laugh!!! I dropped my precious crack pipe from laughing so hard!!! and I think I ruined TG's fishnets from falling out of the chair.
I do have a handful of friends here IRL that I have dragged out of the closet. It's funny because we do call each other these names out in public and the looks on the passerbys....HILARIOUS!!!!
Laughter is the best medicine!!!
now hand over my crack you snatched from me Crick
I have to hurry... I wanted to respond earlier, but my aparents hid the thread from me, plus, I didn't want to hurt them by letting them know I was in the bparent part of the forum. Wait! Why do I care? I have difficulty forming attachments to anyone.
Gotta go. I certainly didn't know my parents were hiding a money tree! Time to search for it. I bet it's hiding in the same place all my id info is!!!
BTW... crack is so yesterday. Meth is where it's at now ladies. Does wonders for your weight and teeth!
Oh Crick...that reminds me - did I mention I'm starting a new business??
Baby-Tat
Uhhhh Leigh??? I thought you were financing our Baby Lo-Jack biz with your money tree...
Just like an AP... Promise us birthmom's on thing then go off and do something else....

Leigh - Thanks "baby tat" sounds like a great idea, but I already had Emi's arranged. We are going to do it on the "Dr. Phil Show". Just one of the free perks I get from being such a saint.
And BTW if some of you crackwhores would share your meth (don't know if crackwhore would use meth they probly would use well crack....). I could lose weight without training for this stupid fricking 5K and I could still eat pizza and chocolate and big macs!

Hmmm... You know I have those friendships - LOL!!!!
I do think it's kinda a gallows humor thing. When I used to work in the Emergency Department, our monthly M&M (morbidity and mortality) reviews were a total hoot. But if I tried to tell someone else about it and how funny it was, they thought we were insensitive vampires or something. But actually it's how some very compassionate people dealt with the pain and death that necessarily accompany ER work.
The humor is how we deal with the stereotypes that have hurt us all. Those who haven't experienced that don't get it. And they're not allowed to play. In fact if any of them calls Brandy a crackwhore, I'll kick their butts.
I was all set to respond and read this post. I am a nurse and some of the "jokes" that are said in private would HORRIFY the general public. do we mean in a disrespectful way...no way....it IS gallows humor and sometimes the only way to lighten the situation in order to go on with out running away! I have been a nurse for 25 years in differnt enivorments and it is all the same. I am wlling to bet it is the same in all of the people professions...how else would anyone be able to deal the the myriad of strange situations other humans put themselves in, then ultimiley us! You gotta laugh.
I think its the same thing with adoption. Sometimes things can get so emotional for all involved that you need to lighten it somewhat.
Did I ever mention that as an adoptee I get to pick how I attained my traits, or better yet be able to negate the less desirable ones. My sisters antics have NOTHING to do with me because I am adopted and didnt inherit her issues. My dads frugalness(read cheap) was inherited by his grandfather...well missed that one as I am adopted. The strange great aunt is well, differnt...HEY...I have no worry...I am adopted. On the birthfamily side The uncles that um liked to imibe...welllll(said with my nose up) I Was,t brought that way..it doesn't effect meeee.( I will deny ETOH abuse can be genatic).wheere's my wine. It can go on and on.....
I have joked about that to others not involved in adoption and they look at me weird.
dpen6- I agree fully. I work in an ICU and our humor would freak some people out. But, it gets us through the day. We mean NO offense what-so-ever.
Reminds me...My 16yr old came to work Sat. night to get the car. I asked him what he was up to for the night. His response was, "Oh we were thinking about hitting a few parties, getting drunk, doing some drugs and having sex." I responded, "Cool, bring some home for me and be in by midnight! Love you, drive safely!"

Sorry, that information cannot be disclosed to you. All you need to know is that the forum will be cared for and loved immensely and showered with the money tree leaves
So, do we get a share of the leaves? (Money tree leaves that is...NOT marijuana leaves)

Oh come on wimps! Put your picture out here if you dare!
I already published one... I like this one better... I think it was taken before I began my life on the street.

Sorry-I can't as I'm wanted in 6 different states for prostitution and selling crack to these druggie bmoms.

No marijuna leaves??? I think we want our share of those too!
I love that exchange with your 16 year old, btw. My son, when he was 16, would have said great, now I have your permission!

Yeah- I guess your right. When we get the "munchies" we can majorly pig out with no worries about gaining weight because the crack will take care of that for us.
Is that why I can't lose weight? I should up my dose of crack! (Unless I can find Crick's stash, I definitely need that money tree.)

Ok I am not going to be called a wimp!!!!! Here goes and mind you I haven't had much sleep in almost 3 years.
And sorry but I never have any pictures by myself. Rules of the house. Use a kid to hide your fat!
Sorry i wasn't here earlier...I was hiding and getting rid of all information about J's bmom. After I get off the boards I'll make sure he knows that I consider it a personal offense to have a relationship with her...and if that doesn't work then I'll just lie...because I'm insecure and incredibly threatened...not to mention dishonest and sneaky.
