We've had our FD almost 8mths. The only thing I really knew about bio mom was that she was homeless, didn't have a job and some mental health issues.
So, I was reading on a message board and someone had mentioned how they found out a bio mom had a warrant out and should they let Cw's know.
That got my mind thinking...hmm, public records...well, I'll just do a search of bio mom and see what pops us. 20+ things=/ From domestic violence to felony's.
Darn, I should have just let my mind think all wasn't so bad. LOL
I don't think I'll bring it up to FD's lawyer..they all must know, right? And if FD wasn't brought into care for those things, would it matter anyway?
All I keep telling myself is that God is in control and He knows all that is going on=)

I am sure they know. Backgrounds are ran on all the parents that I work with. If DCF is slow in doing it, then I do it so I know what I am dealing with(I am a GAL) Don't let it get to you, I am sure they are aware of it and most of the time one of the tasks on the case plan is no more law violations.

My FD'f biomom was arrested for a misdemeanor. 2 months later I looked at the public records online at clerk of the county court and saw it. When I mentioned it to CW she knew nothing of it. Seems Biomom was waiting for right time to tell CW. Mentioned it to GALs and they also knew nothing of it at the time. I would casually mention it. You never know.
Wandering about the felony---because my first public record check, I spelled her name correctly and didn't see it.
I did a second check..just using the last name...and I saw 3 more, including the felony. This time though her name had an extra letter in the spelling of it--same birthday, etc.
I might do the casual " how does her past police record come into play" and see where that goes with the GAL.
My FS's CW seems to think biodad may try to complete his plan to get 3 sibs back after he is released from jail. My quick records search this morning came up with several convictions and more than one vacation in the county jail for possession, burglery and domestic violence. I'm thinking he's working the plan to get out of jail early. I'm not even sure CW knows the whole history.
I think it's kind of a lose-lose situation when you finally get up the nerve to track down criminal court info on your foster child's bioparents. I'm never relieved, but I always take a look.
