Power in Kaz

Magellan's Eurosurge is the best investment you'll ever make, trust me! :)Our travel partners fried their laptop during a power surge in Uralsk, they only had a convertor you need both.

In addition to converter, buy a portable UPS - power surges and power outages occurred in Kostanai when I was there in the winter. I believe this device saved my laptop from frying!

We had a convertor and adapator, but not a surge protector. I highly suggesting gettign a surge protector. We fried our laptop when my husband plugged in the cell phone charger and did not use the convertor/adapotr, which ever one bumps down the voltage. Not only did it fry the cell phone charger, but it also sent a surge through the apt and fried the laptop.

I second the recommendations for the Eurosurge and the converter. We kept our laptop plugged into the Eurosurge while in use. The converter came in handy when we used our portable DVD player hooked up to the TV (don't forget your cables if you plan to do this). We chose to bring a separate DVD player (and not play DVDs on the laptop) and it was a blessing, esp. since we were in-country for almost 7 weeks straight. That way, while one of us was watching DVDs the other person could be using the laptop which was very SLOOOWW, esp. when we were updating our blog.

Most modern electronics, including computers, don't need a converter. Look on the bottom, and if it says something like 110-240 you don't need to convert the electricity. You will, however, need a plug adapter to plug it into the wall. The one for Kazakhstan is the same one that is used throughout most of Europe, 2 round plugs.As others have suggested, the Eurosurge is highly recommended.
