OK--
I need to clarify this. Some people have said they were able to pay an expediting fee to get their dossier processed sooner. Only one person was specific--their dossier was submitted to the Consulate in NY.
Has anyone been able to "expedite" the processing of their dossier with the Embassy?
It seems the Consulate in NY accepts dossiers only from agencies in the northern half of the US, and the Embassy in DC accepts dossiers from agencies in the southern half of the US. Now--I do not know where the line of demarcation exists, but my agency (in TX) must submit to the Embassy.
So . . . how to I get expedited processing at the Embassy? Can anyone tell me?
My dossier is in the translation stage now.
thx,
LL
Which Embassy you go through depends on your agency.
Now, I've been home a year, so I went through this almost two years ago.
Our agency said, you can pay $800 to have your paperwork expedited or not, be we recommend you pay it. So we paid it and that was that. I do remember being quite shocked at how quickly it made it out of the Embassy. I sent my dossier in the first week of Oct and it was translated and through the Embassy in 4 weeks time (that includes the time for translation and Embassy) Not sure of exact dates though.
Your agency may or may not offer the expedited fee as the may want to keep everything streamlined, I dunno. Sorry I'm not more help.

We were given the option to expedite our dossier through the MFA in Kaz. We chose to expedite, but our agency's contact in Kaz wouldn't accept the money, saying that it would take a long time to get through the Dept of Ed anyway, and that paying to expedite wouldn't help it move any faster. Kind of like 'hurry up and wait'. We did not have the option to expedite through the NY consulate. Our dossier took maybe a month to translate, then about 3 weeks to get through the consulate to the MFA. It's been at the MFA for about 2 months now, and we're still waiting.
Please know that there is a new person at the Embasy so anything prior to Dec. could not be true anymore. We were able to expidite through the NY counsolate.
