We were recently matched with an emom! We're so excited, shes so wonderful! I started pumping about a week ago...I'm getting 15-20ml (half to 3/4 of an ounce) every three hours. I think its good, I'd like to have more, of course, but I'll take what I can get!
I think I'll be able to nurse baby after delivery, which will be amazing!!! :cheer:
Karyn -- How much did you get after a week of pumping? I forget your story and whether you did the protocol or not. I'd love an update on your story, if possible!! :thanks:
Fingers crossed that all goes well over the next couple of weeks!!!

Oh my gosh Erin - so sorry I didn't see this until now! How are things going - is baby home now? Tell me more!!!!
That is a GREAT milk supply for just starting out. From what I remember, it is pretty close to what I was getting. Yes, I did the regular protocol for about 5 months before pumping and adding herbs. I am now only taking 50 mg of dom and no herbs - and still have a pretty ok supply (my "baby" is 22 months now and still nursing 5-6 times a day on demand).
Anyways - sorry again that I missed this and feel free to ask any questions and I'd LOVE to hear how you are doing...

Karyn ~ No problem that it took a while!!! You're busy with a toddler!!!
I was doing well, but the match failed. It was horrible, and worse because I had milk. So, I will not pump ahead of time next time. BUT I'm glad that my body works!!!:cheer:
Hopefully another match is just around the corner for us, and our "meant to be" baby will be finding us soon!!!
Erin
PS I saw your post on asklenore...hows it all going?
Hi Erin,
I am so sorry to hear the match failed. Are you doing ok? :grouphug: I can imagine it must have been very tough having milk and then finding out, but you're right - good to know it will be there when you need it. Are you back on the protocol now? I hope things happen for you very soon!
Honestly, I think the replies on lenore confused me even more - and I'd love to hear your thoughts. I LOVE nursing - don't get me wrong - but to be honest, the thought of doing it until DS is 4 or 5 really doesn't appeal to me. I thought we were doing good making it to two, and I sort of had it in my mind that 2.5 would be the cut-off date. But now I don't know what to think! I mean he loves it, which is great, and I do believe in extended nursing and I don't want weaning to be traumatic for him - but also don't want a pre-schooler nursing! Is that wrong? What do you think?
Karyn
Karyn ~ I am doing ok. It still hurts. And not to be melodramatic, but I think it was probably the worst day of my life. No one expected it -- not us, the lawyers, I'm not even sure emom did. But it was meant to be that way, and our baby is still out there.
The milk thing was difficult and encouraging at the same time. I have 20+ ounces of frozen milk in the freezer that I'm anxious to be able to use for our child. My body works! Finally!
As far as your question...I'm a HUGE breastfeeding advocate, up to a certain point. I, personally, don't think that I would want to BF past 2-2 1/2. I'm conflicted at that point whether its really for the child, or if its for the mommy. Its kinda like a paci baby -- eventually you have to take the paci away, and they'll have a transition time, but they'll be ok. I don't know if that helps, or confuses you even more, but at least its one more point of view.
Hope that helps!
